    Perth to Sydney - intention

    Hi,
I am currently in Cambodia and intend or would like to get to Perth and ride a motorbike from west to east across Australia.
This could be my only chance as an in the vicinity and have time.

I was thinking I'd like to buy a GS550/750 and ride across.

    - Could it be that in a month or so someone in Perth just happens to want to sell a GS ?
    - Does anyone have experience of having done this ? I mean the ride , route , advice ?

A crazy thought but it now could happen ! This is better than can't happen.

Probably not the pleasant ride you might think it would be.

Like I tell anyone asking for directions:

You can't get there from here.

Rob, you'd probably like the youtube series I linked above, being an HD guy. I can't explain why I watch most of his videos, we certainly don't have much in common. Then again, I watch a lot of stupid stuff.

Travelling between Perth and Sydney can be gruelling. It's a long way and the Nullabor Plain is vast and dry.

That said, Danny did it on a Honda 125 Monkey bike - twice.

I’ll have to give that a watch. I wasn’t watching the MDB videos back then.

Back in the 80's I rode from QLD to perth on a WLA harley, it was fun, even saw a camel. I then rode to darwin, then back to QLD, picked up my dusting side-car & rode back to perth.

See the movie Road Games.................its a aus trek movie of sorts.
I'm going to do Canada ad mare usque ad mare on a bike before I die.

Australia trip is also a distant dream. If I were you Id rent or steal a bike and then fly back home from your terminus.
Air Canada used to do a thing here to accommodate bikers but It was probably expensive.

He's entertaining, for sure. Production levels are top notch. A lovable a-hole most of the time. But that's his shtick. And the folks he brings along (David Parry, miscellaneous Sheilas), add to the adventures. And the work he does to promote men's mental health is admirable. I'll never do the stupid stuff on a bike that he regularly does on a HD (or a Monkey). He's ridden all over the world and produced great footage to take us along.

Anyway, UKJULES, if you do this, we look forward to a full report with pictures. Most of us will never have this opportunity. Jealous, honestly.

Here's the prescription: get a motorcycle. Or three. Ride twice a day, more as needed.

No. Because a GS11E is 3 feet away from me right now.
