Yup, we love that here in the south. You can spot a newly relocated resident with out any problem during summer.

On my GS500, I rode from southern LA out to Salton City (Palm Desert area - about a 2.5 hour ride one way). I did this in the summer, during the day, and went wayyyy too fast on 10 east. It was about 117F. I'm glad I didn't do any engine damage :P I was also wearing armored leather :?

124 degrees F Official weather station news channel 3 july last year Phoenix az. Anyone can cook eggs on the sidewalk, here you can cook chicken in the sand!! Needless to say I now have a feildsheer mesh jacket Its cooler when sitting in traffic but my leathers are still cooler at speed. the worst thing you can do is let this desert air dry you out.

Last weekend I drove out to GSBill's place and it has to be 110....I soaked my undershirt. 20 mins in that was bone dry and then I was on my own.

Commuting in Phoenix
I started commuting on my GS850G this August. Average high temp in Phoenix that month was 106 and one day hit 114. My commute home starts at around 4pm, which is near the hottest time of day.
But it's a dry heat.

I was a mile and a half from home and pushed it all the way, even up a little hill. I had my jacket off from the start. I took short breaks whenever I'd come to a shady spot. Still, I was about to collapse at one point. I rallied and made it the rest of the way and immediately jumped in the pool. :-D

Dry Heat
I hear that, Regis.
During the month of August the Missus told me to skip the hello kiss and head straight for the shower when I got home. Course, my old pickup didn't have AC either. At least there's a better breeze on the GS. Doesn't quite make up for the leather jacket, though. :-D
