I drive an old Ford and get that from a lot of people. I know exactly what you mean, it makes it all worthwhile.

Nice ThreeTimer. That is a fabulous way to start a day. The very first ride after I rebuilt my bike was down to the gas station to fill 'er up. I parked and a truck immediately pulled up and the guy said, "I'll trade you for my truck! Nice bike!" That compliment felt so good and made all the work worth it. Of course the sweet riding bike helped too!

Stopped for a sandwich at a gas station and a guy on a brand new 929 had all sorts of comments for my old beater. He never said a word about his Bike and it was sweet. Nice guy. Very unassuming. Next day we met going opposite directions. He pulled the Honda up and waved as he went by on one wheel. Cool.82 1100 EZ (red)

You've got it right! I have a mint 1978 Ford Thunderbird that I drive when I can't take my GS (It was misting this morning ... nasty and very slick). I was preparing to return a wave to a man next to me at a stop light. Yeah, when you drive a 29 year old car that is as clean as a new car, people wave at you.
WHAM! I got rear-ended so hard my glasses flew off.
I collected myself and got out, only to see a 2007 Ford Focus (so new it did not even have a tage yet) with a shattered windshield, deployed airbags, a ruined front end and a leaking radiator.
Thankfully, no one was hurt. The driver apologized, looked at his car and sighed, then he looked at the rear end of my T-bird.
NOT ONE SCRATCH!
The moral is, if you're in a car and are going to get hit, getting hit by a car made of plastic and rubber is not bad.
I smiled as I drove away, but I am still wondering why I can't seem to watch my six o'clock as carefully when I'm in my car as when I'm on my GS.Last edited by Guest; 05-24-2007, 08:00 PM.

What a coincidence
It happened to me this morning. Guy pulled up next to me at a stop light and gave me huge props on my bike. He was riding a Harley.8)
