    One of those days...

I had some running around to do at work yesterday so, I took the Jeep in the morning and left my bike at home. Just so happens when I get done running around that I end up by my house. Gonna be a beautiful day so, I swing by and grab my GS. Nice pleasant 20 mile drive to work with light traffic. End of day, I go out and strap my helmet on, put the key in the ignition and nothing. No lights no nothing. Main fuse is blow. WTH? I just rode it in fine. Spend an hour and do some troubleshooting and can't find any reason for this. Oh well. Call the wife and tell her to bring the truck and trailer to fetch me and my poor bike. She hits a deer on the way to pick me up. I have an '05 Dodge Cummins. Doesn't look too bad I think. Broke the pass. headlight assembly, broke the grill, rolled the pass. fender a bit. Then I open the hood. Broke the intercooler, radiator, fan shroud, air box, bent the condenser and who knows what else. Great, just what I need. proceed to load up the bike and make our way home to see my son who asks me to take a look at his clutch in his truck. It's not working. Crawl under it and adjust as much as possible. Still won't engage. The pressure plate is toast. Now I have 3 vehicles in the space of about 2 hours that are down. Luckily my wife and I work together so, we can carpool. My son will be driving my Jeep till we get his fixed hopefully this weekend. Don't know how soon I can even look at the bike. I guess the old saying is true, When it rains, it pours...

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. That's how things seem to happen around here as well. Luckily (and touch wood) I haven't had any major problems recently.....but I'm on constant alert !

I wish you well in getting things sorted and back on your feet.

    Cheers,
    Spyug.

Yeah, I understand and can empathize with you 100%. I've been trying to force my bike to make it October, major oil leaks and all. Now, the head gasket has about finished the process of complete failure, blowing oil all over my leg today. My Jeep is halfway done with re-wiring, I have to put a new driver's side window in my truck (it's still useable), and I've got a BRC to teach in Alexandria (98 miles southwest), tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. I guess I'll have to drive a cage there (my wife's car), what a bummer, tearing my bike apart now in the hopes of re-torqueing the head and making it last until I get my gasket kit. It's only got 57k on it besides, but some very hot, overheated times in the desert weakened the gaskets.....

Bummer. Friday the 13th on a Thursday. Best of luck with the repairs.

Yes, I work with my wife. That's not an issue is it? We have an engineering firm and if I may say so myself, we work well together...

Although we get along fabulously in most other ways, my wife and I can barely make a bed without some sort of disagreement. I always regard people who can work with their spouses with a mixture of disbelief and envy. It always seems amazing to me. You're a lucky guy!

Oh, and I hope you get your mechanical stuff working, too. :-D

Two down, one to go. Got my son's truck back on the road this week. Ended up doing an engine swap while we were doing the clutch....
The R/R was fried on my GS. A guy at work gave me a Honda unit so, it's back on the road. Although it has a fuel leak on the transfer tube between carbs I need to fix...
Insurance company cut me a check today to get my truck fixed. 5 grand and I didn't even get to make jerky outta that deer...
