I would say aborting the ride was a good idea even had the bike been rideable. If I might ask, how long have You been riding and do You have any formal training as in MSF riding courses?

Life is a balancing act, enjoy every day, "later" will come sooner than you think. Denying yourself joy now betting you will have health and money to enjoy life later is a bad bet.

If you have a dealer near by you can have a clutch lever ordered for around $8. My husband has had to order one for my '82 850.
