Last time i took a New England vaca, back to my fatherland, i got bit by something big and venemous on the shin. Didn't think much of it at the time, but a week later my leg swelled, I had a 103 fever, and it finally started to seep through an open wound. 30 days off work on my back, lotsa pills, permenent crater in the shin, and i didn't even own a motorcycle at the time. Dammit, thats what was missing! The bike!

And of course I had gloves on and in my panic, I couldn't get the visor open or get the helmet off.....
I don't remember how it came to be, but me and that bat somehow came to an agreement. That if it didn't bite me before i could get pulled over, then I wouldn't have to run into a tree and kill BOTH of us.
Of course the bat did die (60 mph impact with my face) and I had bat blood/$hit all over my face and a huge bruise between my eyes for a week or two.
I have to tell you there is nothing like a live mammal trapped in your helmet to get you to apprecate a good june bug every now and then.
My friends still laugh about that one.

I think that story is one of the reasons I bought he HJC FS-10 helmet this time. (it has a second shaded shield inside)

Funny stuff! I was laughing the whole damn time while reading this.
I hate spiders, so if that would have happened to me, I would probably be dead right now. I will definately check my equipment before getting on for the ride. Hitting a deer at 65 mph is no picinic either. Especially on a light bike. It was amazing that my bike stopped dead...right there, and proceeded to turn me into a human catapult......
I got hit by a honey bee one time, got in under my collar somehow, and stung the **** out of me. I was miles from no where, and had to keep driving. By the time I got home, that little bee had pumped enough venom into me, that part of my right arm was paralyzed, and I could not move my head to the right no matter what I did.
I know now, to carry a tweezers in my toolkit to prevent that from happening again.

A few years back I too had an encounter with a black bird... I was thrid in lind behind a couple of GS1100s and as they screamed by a bird came shooting out of the forest on my right and hit me square in the chest. Knocked the wind out of me and made him loopy cause he flopped about for a few second on my tank between my legs and arms...
I leaned back a bit and he got his bearings and took off up over my shoulder... scared the bejeesus out of me.

I've got a couple of stories. I drag race my bike & somehow had made it to the finals. Just me & the other bike racing for all the marbles. He was pitted near me so I went over to say hi when I saw a big black body stuck in the air duct of his Busa. It was a bird he had hit on his last pass down the track. Freaked us both out but him more I quess as he screwed up his launch when we finally did race & I went home with the trophy & money.
The next time was a pleasure cruise down near lake Erie in SW Ontario. It was getting dusky & I could see a black cloud rapidly approaching. It turns out it was a cloud of thousands of dragonflys in some kind of mating ritual. Well, I ran right into them & they were splattering and exploding on my face shield and jacket. They felt like little rocks when they hit me. Somehow, I managed to stay on the bike.

Not to many bad encounters with bugs yet. The odd large bug with the visor up though.
However I am guilty of kicking a dog. Late night riding and some guy behind me with his brights on simply refusing to pass me. Thankfully due to this I was already on edge. All of a sudden a dog just ran out and I was already on top of it. Hit my right foot and knocked my right foot clean off the peg and gave me a good shake. After pulling over to catch my breath I went back and it was nowhere to be found. Hopefully after a 40mph kick it won't be making any late night road crossings again...

It certainly makes them scramble as I say "you dropped this" as I drop it in their lap.

I actually got CUT in the face by a june bug. Those little bastards are hard! Never had an encounter with a flying animal, yet, and I hope i never do. But, I DO frequently end up with some little flying insects that SOMEHOW live when contacting my helmet, and if i have my visor up (or maybe they're getting in thru the vent in the top) they always end up in the ear pockets of my helmet. There is something quite annoying about trying to maintain concentration riding thru the city in rush hour traffic, and having some bug buzzing around in extremely close proxemity to your ear drum. I bet sometimes some of the people behind me think im crazy, or have Terets or something, as I often shake my head in crazy ways to get whatever it is to stop moving for a bit untill i can stop and take my lid off.

HA, got you all beat...when I was in panama with the army I had a dual purpose XL500s and I was on the way home to the barracks one night and I was rounding this sharp corner at about 50mph and all of a sudden a monster sized fruit bat ( about 3 ft across) and hit the bike in the headlight and poof no light on a pitch black curve along with blood and fruity bat poop in my face. I don`t know how I saved it but I did. I have had a guy throw a half eaten apple out his window at 75mph and hit me in the chest on my Harley and land in my lap,I picked up the apple and got next to him at 75mph and threw it back at him and got him in the face. Needless to say I motivated out of there.
