    My 24 Hour KY/RRR 500ish mile blast..

So my step dad and I set out for Kentucky last evening, bout 730. Went about 5 miles and had to stop for the rain. The sky simply opened up and way too much water was pooling on the road for our tastes, so we waited it out for about 45 mins. By 1030 or so we called Mikey Riddle from Lexington. We were coming down for my stepdad, Bob to visit his grandparents graves in Booneville that he hadnt seen since 92, and since we were coming down it presented a perfect opertunity to hook up with Mike and do a little more scouting for the upcoming Red River Rally. We met up with Mike this morning for breakfast, and then the run down KY11 to Boonville. It was less than pleasurable weather for most of the day, and we pretty much got drenched for a good part. But then, just before arriving at the cemetary, the weather gods smiled a bit upon us and the rain let up. After the cemetary visit, we headed back toward where the cabins and routes we'd found on our last scouting trip were, and once we hit Natural Bridge, the weather gods smiled on us even more, as the sun broke out for a bit, just enough to dry up the roads and allow us to let it rip up KY77 passed the Nada tunnel. Lets just say, those of you who are coming are in for a treat. We went up 77 for a bit, further than Rage and I had gone thinking that we'd left the best turns behind. WRONG! I was having to seriously work my GS1100G in these, and its going to be a GREAT added route. After that, we ran up to Moorhead with Mike, and then split off and headed for home from there. This was some of the most technical riding ive done at full bore, as WV was great, and full of twisties, but with such large groups, we didnt really get a chance to get a WHOLE lot of corner carving going. Not saying that i didnt have a blast down there, cause i did. But The RRR, while not stocked with routes for the Inaugural year, it will be FUN FUN FUN.

I very much enjoyed our ride today .. met Bob (great guy) and got a few more miles in with TCK.

Not sure if I noticed the rain though

He does some fancy flicking with that mammoth bike.

Looking forward to next week (another scouting run this time with much better maps).

Rage .. you got time to sneak down ?

2001 KLR650 too pretty to get dirty

Life is a balancing act, enjoy every day, "later" will come sooner than you think. Denying yourself joy now betting you will have health and money to enjoy life later is a bad bet.
