Going down is never fun, glad your OK, isn't it funny no matter how beat up you get that you almost immediately jump up and A. Shut off the gas if able, B. Start checking out any damage, and C. Get the bike out of traffic. Then usually you sit down and assess yourself. Bike always first. Get well soon, and get that bike well too.

Screw that, numero uno comes first and that's me not some **** piece of steel that decided to not be my friend anymore. Don't know how you do it but I'm always concerned about me before the bike, it the bike can't be ridden anymore that's fine if I can't ride bike anymore that sucks.

For the OP, first time down? how long you been riding? As you discovered trying to land on the bar end during a lowside is futile, geometry and physics just doesn't allow for it. Learn from your mistakes and don't make the same mistake again
