The most important thing is that - not only are you and your friend alive to tell the story - and you're both in remarkable shape considering a high side at 55! And, your bike looks a lot better than I expected too.
Yes, insurance companies all bite the big one - screw you any chance they get. You're both walking, talking and lucid - not everyone is that lucky...
Sure, try to get some compensation to fix your bike, but you've already received the most remarkable gift after some other idiot's carelessness.
