    Most insurance companies will lowball you to see if you'll accept the offer. Allsnakes is always in trouble for their tactics. They usually have a dozen or so states with anti-trust suits against them at any given time.

      I'm low balling them. I don't want much, just for the parts my bike needs and money to replace my gear. Not very much...

        I'm pretty sure the adjusters don't make these decisions based on cost; it's not as if they will cover you if it's $1000 but they won't if it's $1500. A difference like that is insignificant to these companies. When I had a wreck they asked me to put together a list of gear that was damaged and give it to them. They priced it out themselves. They also sent an adjuster to look at the bike so don't do anything to it until they do. They judged the damage themselves. If they ask you to do your own assessment, be reasonable but don't cut everything to the quick. You will just be shortchanging yourself.

          The most important thing is that - not only are you and your friend alive to tell the story - and you're both in remarkable shape considering a high side at 55! And, your bike looks a lot better than I expected too.

          Yes, insurance companies all bite the big one - screw you any chance they get. You're both walking, talking and lucid - not everyone is that lucky...

          Sure, try to get some compensation to fix your bike, but you've already received the most remarkable gift after some other idiot's carelessness.
