In its time when all the big four were making touring machines the Venture was the lightest and sportiest of all. After all, the V-Max used the Venture engine so you know it has plenty of power.

      Thanks,

Congratulations, Monty. That's an 83 standard Venture, isn't it?

Nice bike indeed. Go to http://www.venturerider.org/ .

Yes, it's a 1983. I am working feverishly to get it road ready soon. It sat for 3 years. Steve drained the tank, and added a bit of gas/sea foam, and cranked it up.

Keep us posted on your Venturesome venture.

The website I referred you to is basically the equivalent of this GSR, except it's for Ventures, 1st and 2nd generations. Pay it a visit and ask plenty of questions of those very helpful people. My name there is NDiaz.

I rode it about 40 miles today. Looks like I'm not gonna have to go thru the carbs...it's running great!

Got some case polishing to do though.

One of the first times I rode the Blue Ridge Parkway, early 90's, on a '73 Honda CB450, I thought I was a corner carvin' fool... Guy on a loaded down Yammie Venture cleaned my clock in a turn and just calmly motored on by, used the turn sigs and all. Damn tourists got no respect for us racers...
