GS1100E farewell
Well, it was good bye to my '83 GS1100E today as I rode it 200 miles up to the Bangor, ME area to it's new home(and a fellow forum member). As I was riding in the "balmy" 50 degree weather along the secondary roads of NH and ME while getting there, trying to maybe stretch out the final ride, I was having second thoughts. This bike has one of the silkiest clutch and shifting manners of any bike I've owned, even nicer than bikes with hydraulic clutch setups. And yes, the power to blast by many cars at once while still laying into the curves makes the 1100E one of the sweetest bikes still on the road. This bike has such a nice power band that pulls right from 2k up to redline...better than winding the crap out of the so called rockets produced today, that you have to wring out to 10k+ rpm. During the last 40 mile leg, when I jumped back on the highway the bike "beckoned" me into triple digit speeds (I couldn't help myself you know). And this leads to why I had to sell it....same reason I sold my 1100ES last year. I need my license for work!!!

Sad Day! I regret having sold my pristine all original Katana 1000SZ 4 years ago because I had 3 bikes at the time and was in a cross country move. I kept my Ducati and GS1100G. I knew I would never be able to replace it, and I was right. Good news is there are always more bikes out there to try.1982 1100G - 1979 1000SN Cooley #703 - 1982 Kawasaki ELR#337 - 1982 Katana 1000SZ (X3) #769, #872, #1963 - 1983 1100E mid-night blue (X2) - Ducati 907ie - 1976 GT750 Bad Buffalo

Thanks for delivering it. My brother and my nephew both think its a great bike. I can't wait to see it myself in June. I already got an Alaska title and plate for it, thanks to your notorized bill of sale. This is my first non G Suzuki GS. I'm excited about it.
It was a pleasure doing business with you, Steve.
Did you see my 1000G in my nephew's garage? That's a great bike. I actually rent that house to my nephew. He gets a favorable rent rate, and I get to keep some rolling stock there. He loves that Ascot I sold him, but I think he loves that 1100E as well.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things

So you sold a perfectly good motorcycle that supposedly jeopardizes your drivers' license, in order to ride another motorcycle, with 1200 cc, that has approximately the same horsepower figure.
Oh, well, if you're going to keep just one motorcycle in your garage, let it be one that can do it all -- carry mama and the kitchen sink, go fast enough to get you in a heap of trouble with the law, doing triple-digit speeds at will, while sitting in utmost comfort behind a most protective fairing and lowers.
Enjoy your Venture -- the queen of your garage!

I know you're a smart guy and know your bikes, but I have to correct you on one point. My 1100E had 20HP more than the Venture and 300 lbs less weight, so the "go fast in a hurry" quotient was definitely tipped in the E's favor.
But all the rest is true of the XVZ12(sounds more intimidating than saying Venture, doesn't it?), especially the triple digit pitfall!!
I will behave....I will behave....I will behave...........I will try to behave.....
