First proper tour on the GS

Headed up to the mountains to visit family, sort of a dry run for longer trips coming up soon except it wasn't so dry. So I got to test out my wet weather gear too. It was bloody cold coming back, must have been around 5C, almost freezing rain. Not sure I want to do that again any time soon!! Mild hypothermia after 5 hours of that, even though I was dry and had 6 layers on. Anyway, the bike did great, and the luggage performed as it should. Got lots of waves from other bikers and big you-must-be-crazy smiles from people at rest stops Still a little early to be riding through the passes in BC, I guess.

Helmet hair! Lunch at the Manning Park Lodge

Yeah that's snow. Nice twisty roads and dry on the way up.

Almost freezing rain, hot tea never tasted so good.

What I would give to have scenery like that to ride around. Absolutely beautiful!

        Oh, The Mountains

It is so worth it, though. It reminded me of Monarch Pass, Colorado in August of 1978 when two of my partners placed newspaper down the front of their pantlegs for warmth. We also taped trash bags around our feet because it rained and sleeted on our 21 year old butts. We were on a '77 750, a '78 750E, and get this......a '74 Kawasaki H2. Guess who had the roughest go at it?

        GoreTex? Thinsulate? Sealskinz?
