I've got a GS700 rolling chassis with a mostly complete engine in it. I've been trying to get rid of it for a couple of years now, with no luck. In desperation, I posted it on Cracklist for, "$50, no title, ten miles west of Indianapolis, you come get it".

I had about fifteen replies, mostly from guys wanting to put it in a go cart (which is what my ad suggested be done with it). Nearly all of them wanted to know if I'd deliver it (no), if I "had papers with it" (what am I selling, a bag of pot?), or if it still ran (one look at the pic ansered that question pretty readily since there were no carbs, exhaust, body parts, etc.. on it). Oh well. I really want it gone.

I replied to several of the less dangerous sounding replies that if they came to get it, they could have it for $20 (I would have said free, but then some diphole would keep stringing me along that he was coming to get it and never would). NO takers. For the next two months, about once a week or so, a reply would pop up in my email account, each one sounding more deranged than the last.

By this point, I've got about three-four hours invested in posting the ad and answering replies. It was once again a verification of the old adage:

"The more people I meet, the more I like my dog."

When reading this it makes me think of the first motorized 2 wheel vehicle I ever purchased. This was responsible for getting me into motorcycling and eventually my GS habit. 1994 50cc Yamaha Razz....read Honda Elite scooter.

I saw the ad for it on CL and it was the 2 line variety. Listed the Razz at $500.00. I blew it off. It stayed up for several days so I thought I'd call the guy and at least see he would come down on the price. I did and he said that yes the price was negotioable and I needed to see it and ride it.

Okay I'll bite. I showed up at his duplex and knocked on the door. A young, very pregnant, girl answers the door with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth and asks if I'm the guy that wants to buy the scooter. I replied, I'm the guy that needs to see it first. Okay, My boyfriend will go get it. Its chained up in front of the liquor store down the street.

I said okay and waited for the guy to return. Down the street come the worst looking excuse for a scooter I'd ever seen. On the scooter was a kid with two bandaged hands trying to ride it.

He makes a turn into the drive and parks it and we start talking.

      His girlfriend is pregnant
They need a car instead of the scooter
He has a Cadilac in the garage that caught on fire
He need to repair the Caddy, so he's selling the scooter to get the money
      Scooter's throttle cable broke
      Used Choke cable for throttle
Can't turn bike too hard one direction because it goes full throttle because the cables too short.
      Needs a read tire
Body work is painted flat black
Surprisingly it runs okay and most of the parts are there.

I make a lowball offer ($150.00) he says I'll take $160.00. I need $160.00 because I owe my girlfriend 2 packs of smokes. I am about to wet my pants from this last statement but it gets better......

He goes on to explain that the money from the scooter is really going to pay for his stereo system that will be reposessed if he doesn't make the payment. He does owe girlfriend the smokes and he is in trouble because he can't donate plasma now for the money to buy smokes for her and pay for the stereo.
We're this far into it and I can't go away without finding out why he can't donate plasma anymore. He shows me his bandaged fingers and and says they won't take my plasma because I burned my hands.
How did you burn your hands?

"I was making one big firecracker out of a toilet paper roll by breaking a bunch of little ones in half and putting all the powder into the toilet paper roll and her smoke dropped into the roll and caused a flash fire."

I handed him $175.00 and tanked him for the scooter. He said I paid him too much money. I said "No, I didn't" "College fund for the baby"

      1994 yammy Razz $165.00
      2 packs of smokes $10.00
The story and the memory .............PRICELESS

that's too funny! Worst I got was a pair of shmoes that showed up to my house absolutely stoned to check out my "rice rocket." It was a cb750- with a vetter fairing, and they drove in from rhode island...

I'm picturing someone who clearly has mental health issues.

              He's all burntup it seems.

That wreck is nothing more than scrap metal.
