No, pretty sure it was one of the earlier B's, having the spoke wheels and single front disc. Had low miles and only mod I was aware of was the 4 into 1 exhaust. But any paperwork is long gone and memory not exact now.

The only B model was in 77. Came in two colours. The red/orange you see in my photo or a blue. That bike Steve is in fact a 78 C. The mag wheels were an upgrade option in 78. That would have been an "D" or "E" model. Your pic is the standard offering for 78, base model in the plum or wine colour. Single disc and spoke wheels. The B models also only had black side covers. Colour matching them didn't happen untill 78. There were a couple of other subtle differences, such as ignition switch placement (77 had it IN the gauge pod, 78 on had it where GSs normally do) rear master was slightly different, and a couple of small other things. That bike in your pic is gorgeous though. I have always liked that livery.

        Timing cover question..sorry, excuse me

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I have a quick question about timing covers.
My first '78 GS1000 (blue with lighter blue stripe) had a timing cover exactly like this pic of the 750...but.....

Thanks for letting me butt in. (thanx for letting borrow your pic lurch)
        Back to the original thread.

First off, thats a DAMN sexy 1000 you got there. Secondly, the timing cover that you were speaking of FIRST is no longer available. The one you have on your bike now is the replacement, used on the later models. However, thanks to the patience of my lovely assistant and fiance, I have managed to make all my ORIGINAL emblems look brand spankin new with some masking and some low gloss high temp black duplicolour engine enamel.

You know...as much as I like originality, I kinda like the chromey/black rings/gold letters look.
I was just thinking it was a cover for a different market is all. Ie: Europe or Australia etc.
                Thanks anyway.

                  Now you've done it!
Ever since I read this thread, with memories flooding back, I had to do something about it.....tonight while perusing CL I found a deal I couldn't pass up!
I now own a roadworthy, stock '78 GS750. Pics will come later. Nothing pristine, but I'll clean her up some, change the oil/filter, and put a little more air in the tires. Rode it the 20 miles home tonight, in the dark, drizzly, 45 degree night...I felt like I had stepped back in time....

Here's a pic that's a little more "complete"... Although, it still isn't the entire bike.
