    Three misses in 45 minutes

Decided to go for a short relax ride for about an hour around sundown.
I wasn't gone more than 20 minutes before some cager comes up behind me, and then passes in my lane running me off the road, almost sideswiping me. Another 20 minutes goes by and I've pretty much "un-angered" myself and am starting to enjoy the ride. Empty, straight, two lane blacktop, only me and one car oncoming, and what do you think can happen? I can see the car coming towards me for a mile before it gets to me. Would you believe when the car reaches a point 50 feet before safely going past, the driver stomps on the brakes and whips a U turn right in front of me? YEP.
Now, I'm annoyed again because clown number two has tried to do me in.
I decide its probably best if I just head home and forget taking a relaxing ride this evening. Well, fifteen minutes later, I'm a couple of miles from home and this gray brown blur crosses the corner of my right eye. Instinct says ANIMAL, BIG. Grab a hand full of front brake, swerve towards the blur, and see a big Doe flash across the road a few feet in front of the bike. She's going one direction, I'm going the other. I like it that way. Made it the last two miles home with no further attempts on my life. LOL

Is your bike red and/or orange?

The bike is black and silver grey, mostly silver grey. With drivers like those, I doubt it would have made a difference if I was driving a yellow school bus. LOL

Earl, I took out the third on for you this weekend.

On one of our day rides in West Virginia, I had a kamikaze bird. I did not get a good enough look at it to see what it was, but it was about the size of a robin or a blue jay. Flew in from the right side, smacked my windshield just about dead center and was deflected straight UP. My brother in law was following me, he said the bird went about 30 feet in the air and landed just off the pavement on the other side of the road.

They're out to get you. Wait until the vultures get a lock on you.
That'll really mess up your windshield. eheh

Speaking of big yellow school buses....I was riding the back roads home last week with my wife, which passes one of the local farms which owns/operates the school buses. Usually I watch out for fresh manure tracks when approaching the blind turns around there, but this time it was bigger....that's right, a big yellow school bus pulling out and blocking the whole road. Heavy on the front brake and trying not to lock up the rear, I looked for my out in the grassy field to the right of the road. Luckily the lady driver never stopped pulling out and I was able to angle around on the shoulder without a wipeout while letting off the brakes.

Just one reply for that one, Earl. Got this picture down in Flori-duh.

                    Evening rides…

Well you found 3 of the evening hazards: Drunks, punks and deer. The one you missed was speed traps.
Weekend mornings are my favorite, before the tourists and bicyclists get on the roads.

Sounds good, Earl. Got all those attempts out of the way, you will be safe for a while.

NO, just kidding, it doesn't work that way.
