    Danielle Hebert's BIG Adventure!

I am just one of MANY people who ride but who are also caught up in Danielle Hebert's incredible adventure on her 1983 GS750. She is an amazing recording artist from Canada, now down touring the USA on her machine.

Danielle just left last weekend (flying this time) for Nashville to finish wrapping up her latest CD but she will be back to the LA area in time for a concert in Altadena on 9th October.

If you want a read of what 14,000 miles (so far) on this machine is like - read her blog at http://daniellehebert.wordpress.com and if you want to start from the beginning, you'll be really rewarded (especially being GS fans)

While she's in Nashville, I'm going over the bike and will have a few questions to post in the Tech sections - but first I must RTFM.

You can sample some of her music on her own website in her music section: http://www.daniellehebert.com

Some recent open mic performances at the local coffee house in Altadena:

This cut - the Friendship Song (Trust) gives a sense of her adventure as she does the intro (unfortunately, the camera battery died just before the end of the tune) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLxxhjnk-xg

I have a NEW riding song: "A Sweet Night for a Ride" - you MUST listen to this from a motorcyclists' perspective http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3whLfO4CyM (the laughter early in the song was because a mutual friend - CHP officer - was in the audience when Danielle mentioned the speed)

If nothing else, read her blog to get a sense of her adventure. If you posibly can, come to Altadena and SEE HER in concert (I can post details when I get the flyer this evening but want Admin approval since it's kinda semi-spam - except it's a GS rider with over 14,000 miles on the bike on just THIS RIDE and it aint over!)

And... She has the bike in the poster. Just that right there makes it noteworthy.

Bike ENGINE is running SWEET (took it out last night to check it for her)

Problem is popping out of 3rd. Have to look at resources for tranny parts. The clutch has enough miles that I probably will just change plates "just because" - while she's in Nashville.

The tranny bothers me. I did RTFM and looking at the tranny dogs, it looks as if she can ride around the 3rd gear issue - short-shift up to 4th, until we get the parts in.

When you read her blog, she has an almost spiritual connection to this machine

I read through some of the blog (will probably read more over the weekend....quite interesting) and did get that about her & her bike......sounds like a cool gal! She should be a member here, given her love for her GS... might also come in handy, should she have any problems with the 750, on the long solo ride home.
You might get quicker replies to questions re. the tranny issue, if you start a fresh thread in the tech section.....most of the GS gurus hang out there.

I will post up in the tech section. I need to do a careful ride - paying attention to exactly what is happening and in which gear(s)

I the meantime, we're getting reports that her sessions in Nashville are going GREAT!

(and yes, I shouldn't clutter this thread with tech issues)

It HAS been quite a while. Danielle is touring Turkey and possibly Greece, and up through Eastern Europe. Her GS died a couple years ago and we're holding it here for her. The engine died - a smokey death. Valves? rings? Would prefer to sell it in one piece rather than part it out. Curious to get recommendations. Nobody here has time to disassemble yet a non-running GS isn't going to sell for much. Thoughts? Recommendations? Offers? (haven't yet put it up as a parts bike in Classifieds yet)

If she has maintained her love for the GS, why sell it? Rebuild it for her and have it waiting when she gets home.
