Had to put these ones in . Seen on the way home .

There'd be feathers everywhere in Aus . Couldn't believe everyone stopped .

Back to Josh and Roses for dinner and drinks and drinks and , what the hell , another couple of drinks . Josh wasn't real keen on the "garden hose shuffle" but he should have given it a go . Would've saved some pain the next day .

Cheers , Simon and Deb .

Layed around feeling sorry for ourselves the next day (our last in Dayton) .

Packed our bags (just fitted everything in) to get ready for an early (4.00 am) start tomorrow . Starting to get a bit sad now as the adventure is almost over .

Our final outing was to The Chop House with the gang (minus Mr Steve ) for dinner . Good spot that . Had an excellent meal and a great night . Great company as well . Josh (TheCafeKid) and Rose (Kinnet) , Jim (Ragezro) and Kathy , Dale (Dogma) and Wendy , and Bonita (Mrs Steve) . You should've blown the darts Rob (kparkfan) and Heidi , you missed a good night . What a terrific bunch of people . Can't speak highly enough about you blokes . Thanks to everyone for the gifts as well guys . Sad farewells and promises to do it all again next year .

On the plane and gone to LA the next morning . Did some final trinket shopping for friends at home in Hollywood . Went to the Hard Rock Cafe for our final US meal . A bit expensive (compared to the other places we'd been , but good all the same . All manner of memoribilia on display including John Lennon's jacket ,

and Steve Conlan's undies (how did they get them ?) .

I managed to leave my plastic in an ATM which freaked us out no end . Frantic calls to Aus to cancel it before we'd sponsored some low life's retirement . Turned out ok as no one got it before it was cancelled .

On the plane and off home .

      Adventure complete .

We want to thank EVERYONE we had the pleasure of meeting , for making by far our most memorable holiday EVER . A HUGE thankyou to this pair , Josh and the lovely Rose (TheCafeKid and Kinnet)

for starting the whole thing , their hospitality and for just being THEM . If we can ever get them to Aus .............................

      THE END .

Cheers , Simon and Deb .

Thanks heaps for this excellent thread Simon!

I'm not likely to ever set foot in the US unless work sends me there (slim possibility), so it's been great to see some pic's of the states and of the wonderful forum members over there. Really good to see the hospitality, leaves a good taste in your mouth for sure.

My favourite pic's were the ducks though, we have mother and father and two ducklings hanging around here of late and occassionally having a paddle in our pool which is really cool, but definitely don't see that many!

          Simon,
Thanks for the coverage of your USA trip. It was very informative and some of the names now have faces!
I believe the members are going to post you a set of chaps! It may just catch on over there.....
          Keep well.

Hope to see/meet you next year. Glad you enjoyed yourselves over here. Austrailia has been on my list of places to visit for quite some time. Perhaps some day. I feel like James Garner in the movie, "Support Your Local Gunfighter" when he keeps saying, "I'm just on my way to Austrailia".

Thanks to Simon for a great job in telling the story of his trip and thanks to all you cool American GSRer's who did such a great job of hosting Simon & Deb and ensuring that they had so many cool experiences and observations to tell us foreigners. Being a really interesting read.

Edit... as a matter of interest, my personal favourite parts of the story revolved around the pictures of food menu boards... Foooooood

This trip was all a bit of a "testing the waters" sort of a thing for us . We had to squeeze in a quick trip before your winter . Next year we'll be a bit more organised and have a bit more time up our sleeves . See you then .

                Cheers , Simon .

Uhh, Simon, ... you came in the MIDDLE of SUMMER.

The HOTTEST part of our year.

Your next scheduled arrival will be toward the end of SPRING time, so be prepared for some cooler weather and some wet stuff, too.

Like a lot of others said Simon this was a great story and nice to see some faces to names. Hopefully I'll have an opportunity to meet up with you all when you come out this way again...as long as you don't mind a little 550 tagging along with all you big boys.

OK, so we kept you up in the hills and away from the worst of the heat, but August and September are usually the worst here.

Awww. This thread makes me miss you and Deb.
And Hootie misses you guys too. We've been putting vegemite on her treats every once in a while.

I know it freaks her out but , give Hootie a tongue kiss from me .

I think we had tooooooo good of a time with you lot (is that possible) because when we got home , we were both in a fugue for about a month . That's why it took me so long to finish the story . Every time I'd try to get into it , I'd look at what pics I hadn't lost , and I'd get all thingy .

It's less than 6 months until we'll be back . I'll bring an extra large bottle of Vegemite just for Hootie (the only 'Merican with the good taste of an Aussie) .

See you soon our daughter .

                              Cheers , Simon .
