I got to hear the bike live last night as Rob and I met for coffee. It sounds..I don't know how to discribe...throaty and racy! Can't wait to take it for a little spin too. We are hoping to do an up Island ride to Gold River next month. Glenn you will be coming too i hope. An over nighter.

I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing this bike in action! All of those period correct parts are very appealing!

The Gold River trip sounds like fun! I drove the road from Campbell River and back last Monday and was thinking about how much fun it would be on a bike pretty much the whole time. I found a great little pub in Gold River too, after all, we do need a reason to go up there... lunch sounds good!

Thanks guys, I'm really enjoying changing things up on the bike. I guess the bikes really a GSR group project when you think about it. Still out on holidays and can't wait to tear into her when I get home. Have to laugh, I've been out for 5 days and have managed to get a great H4 headlight, 4 brand new Old stock Velocity stacks and a pretty decent Kerker Muffler, ha,ha,ha. So far it's been a great trip!

I finally got around to changing the pilot and main jets again on her. With 120 mains and #20 pilots she was falling on her face just a bit on take off and you could smell a bit of gas when at high RPM and going WOT, also she would backfire just a tad on decel at lower RPMS and the idle was a bit rough. Oh, and another thing that started to happen was the more she warmed up the idle would increase a bit, nothing too crazy, just maybe 500 rpm or so. I've put in 117.5 mains and #25 pilots, checked the intake o-rings which were still perfect and reoiled the pods. I haven't had a chance to take it on the road yet but in the driveway idling it's a big improvement Snap! responsiveness. Sure hope tomorrow is dry I've been pondering rims left right and centre. I've got those Morris magnesium rims that I'm pondering over but after a few threads on here about mag VS spokes and Trevor sent me a great picture of a 78' with the gold rims I'm really leaning to putting the spokes back on. It really give a look of 'old school'

Well it was dry today, cold (4 Celsius) but dry. Went to take her out and found the rear brake seized..arrrrrr...swapped out for another one I had, good thing too the pads were pretty low. Put in a good set of those too, although I really don't know why, the rear brakes do soooo little on these bikes. Put the my gear back on and out I went, about a block. The bike now wasn't shifting..arrrrrr...back home thinking, clutch basket, bent shaft, broken rear set...Turns out the shifter rear set was gummed up, took it off and cleaned it up, she shifts like butter once again. An hour delay and I'm off! HOLY CRAP, huge improvement She's virtually perfect with the setting in there now. I haven't even dialed in the mixture screws yet, I'll leave that for a warmer day. Crappy thing is I have to tear the motor down to put in new rings and valve seals. I think I'll wait on that one though until I have the 1000G up and running. Nothing worse than not having a bike to ride. So I'm happy to say success, and I have to give credit where credit is due. Eric recommended the main and pilot jets along time ago and it just took me this long to get them in, he hit is spot on.
