I'll paint them black, hunt for a good set of calipers and make some stainless steel brake lines. Should do the trick. I've got some plans for the old girl this winter. I had so much fun with her touring this year and kicking up the dust with Charlie and the gang I think I want to make her go a little faster so I'm thinking stopping a little faster would be a good idea.

I have them discs/rotors on my 1000n wire wheels using yamaha fz6 calipers, they WORK. Nice bike by the way.My bikes 79 GS1000 1085 checked and approved by stator the GSR mascot :eagerness: and 77 GS750 with 850 top end, GS850g, and my eldest sons 78 GS550, youngest sons GS125. Well the old 78' 1000 took a back burner this last year as I pushed to get my 80' 1000G road worthy. Now with that bike done I can turn my attention back to the ol' girl.
A couple of days later.
She's not running well at all but she's back together so that's a start. Mikuni 29mm smoothbores, Marzocchi shocks, Tarozzi rearsets, K&N pods, Lockhart oil cooler with colour matching braided lines, Marving 4 into 1 racing exhaust, super bars, change over from spokes to mags and dual discs up front. The gas tank sprung a pin hole leak and she's running like crap but I'm happy. I'll get her running properly and then work on her over the winter. Saltymonk's brake upgrade, change out the front fender to something better looking, a better seat to go with the rearsets and the lower bars, and a set of magnesium rims that will take a 150 at the back. That should help me keep uprightRob

HOLY CRAP!! got her vacuumed synched today and took her out for a ride. WOW...those 29's punch. At 6'000 rpm I was gone like greased lightening and at 8'000 rpm that Marving exhaust sounded amazing. The rear shocks are stiff that's for sure but they are planting the front tire to the road, no doubt. You want to talk about fun......TOO MUCH FUNLast edited by azr; 08-27-2013, 02:43 AM.Rob

I'm not going to be around for Spunky's or I would have for sure Garth and yes Charlie those are the Klamath Fall carbs. I only managed to take the bike out for an hour the other day. Now I'm off on holidays for 10 days, can't wait to get back in town and hit the road with this bad boy. The thing I'm laughing about, specifically after crashing from high speed error this year, is that I'm making my bike go faster! lol... I've got to get some better tires on the bike that's for sure. I threw on a virtually new set of S11's but like I've heard on here they are not that good in the corners. When I get back I'll try and figure out a way to video tape a ride with the Marving exhuast..soooo sweeeetttRob
