I have ridden in the rain MANY times and survived, can't say I really enjoyed very much of it, though.

With proper gear and some plastic in front of you to deflect most of the rain, it's not so bad.

Probably the 'best' part is watching the looks on all the people in the cars, who think you are crazy for being out there.

      If only they knew.

I love that bike. The tank is a bit bigger on the GK, am I right? It looks so amazing with the knee indents and the brown seat. The colors are great.

            FS,

Ah, now we get to see the other side.

Hum. both side covers painted over. Wonder what happend there.
SOmetimes the covers get set aside and then lost. Or sometimes people break them trying to get them off. You have the GK emblems yet.

You mentioned that with the fairing and bags taken off the GK it is is then a G.
But one thing differet about a GK than a G (other than the obvious) is that the front fork tubes are bigger and wider spaced apart, such that the fenders are different. And the headlight/brackets/mounting from a G will not fit on the dee-Kayed GK, so sombady had to get real inventive.
And there are a few other things that are different that can tell if it is a dee-Kayed GK or a G.

I am impressed that you wanted to go for ride ... mid 30s and rainy .. but I understand.

Thanks for posting story and pictures.

I think mid 30s is barely warm enough for a ride, but not warm enough for washing the bike upon return.

I liked to stand in lobby and put on rain gear. People walking bye make snide comments. And I say that they are gonna get wetter than I, with them just going out to their car. Then I stand outside, in full rain gear, and stand there holding door, while they run out to their car, and I just slowly walk out to my bike.

as for the headlight. it has a universal bracket that holds it on. ill get a picture of it tomorrow of iterested. the sidecovers were painted grey by p.o. the left side was cracked and the clips had broken off. they fiberglassed it back together. i dont mind the color i think it expands the look of the motor

1100G and GK tank is 5.8 gallon, only difference is the paint stripe pattern.

GL tank is differnt shape and 4.5 gallon.

When I lived in So Cal, I used to ride in the rain just because it was raining, I must admit.

Up here on the West Coast I ride in the rain more than I like to admit but at 34 degree''s you're lucky it wasn't snowing. I ride in the rain when I 'have to' not when I 'like to'.
