Jeff Healy…awesome soloist
Thanks for telling me about Jeff Healy, somebody I forgot about. The guy had talent. I'm not gonna pick up his method over the week! But I decided to buy a refurbished Epiphone SG Faded brown, only $240 W/ship. It can slip under my sling no prob. After closing my track day project, I got room for a pick me up.
I sent a new Michlien Power Pilot back, won't be needin' it.
My GSX750F is not hurt bad at all, in fact with a new master cylinder and clip on bar it's ready for the track. But I can't afford any more down time from injury, so maybe that's done.
As for my clav, I met with an orthopedic surgeon on Tuesday. An old guy, his opinion was to just let the jumbled mess heal as is. With just the fig 8 strap on my shoulders.
Not my first choice, but how could I afford surgery with no insurance? But really, would an insurance adjuster spend a dime for my sake? Same result, but I still got my dime.1982 GS1100G- road bike

Bill,
Thoughts are with you. Get better soon!
You can always keep up on the guitar playin on PS3 Guitar Hero. Those guitars are small enough to fit unders your sling.
Last year my buddy did exactly the same and front-sided his GSX750 making a left at the end of his street. The sad (but funny) thing was... before we left his driveway he said to me "I've got to take it easy till the tires warm up". Then bam!!! down he went less than 50ft from his driveway. Maybe it's a GSX thing!!!

Back on the bike, at long last.
Got back on my 1100G today and took a ride, felt great. (7 weeks later and 75% healed)
My shoulder's quite stiff from the restricted movement during the healing process, but it felt good most of the ride until I got about home. When I made the final turn into my driveway and switched off the bike, it felt like like a big painful rock. But it was OK just a couple minutes later.
I was really stale as I began, and stalled at the first light. DOH!
My corners were clunky, and I missed 2nd a couple times. DOH! DOH!
But after a half hour of riding up and around some country roads, I got my groove back.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the update. Slow and steady there, buddy. Have you been doing any therapy or working out? I've been on a workout regimen since my accident and, although my knee is noisy - being crepitus, it has crepitations, I can run up and down stairs, walk for miles, put my bike on the center stand, etc. It's back nearly 100%.
I'm hoping for the fullest recovery possible for you. Remember, "Use it or lose it". My knee hurts a little sometimes. But if I stop doing something just because it hurts a little, eventually I'll never be able to do that again.
Take care,
Cliff

Glad you're own mobility is coming along, but we'll never be the same. In fact I used to throw a 90 mph fast ball! (BS).
Not sure when I'll try to pull a bike up on it's center stand, but just a few weeks.
Playing guitar or bass tires my shoulder after just 10 minutes. Just yesterday I think I got 60 minutes total playing time, but in 5-10 minute sessions over several hours.
Life is good…

Hey Bill,
Perhaps you can look into a Steinberger bass, or good Hohner copy. Those headless basses are really small and, with the right pickups, sound pretty good.
All the best to you and yours,
Cliff

I feel ya man, after surgery I was in a sling for 8 weeks and prior to that 4 weeks. Tennis elbow sets in fast but luckily it was just bone damaged for you so recovery will be quick.
Listen to your doctor! Don't try and play like any guitarists from Motley Crue.

I got a semi-hollow bodied OS-20 Delta King bass that I won't replace, it's got my sound.
