i laid her down, now i feel like an idiot.

well i was tinkering trying to get my 81 750e to start. well i got it going pull up the kick stand and away i go or so i thought it died

i get ready to get off and stupid me forgot to put down the kickstand... so down we go luckly my leg and the right side clutch cover took most of the impact. im not hurt execpt for a sore leg and feeling like like an idiot, the clutch cover is fine but a little scratched up.

lesson learned always ALWAYS TRIPLE CHECK THE KICKSTAND!

im sure many of you have done the same. hoping the snow storm the weatherman is predicting never comes.

If you ride for any length of time you will eventually do just as you described one time.
Do it twice and you may need to stop riding.

Wait till you forget to put it UP and then take off into a left hand turn. If you manage to keep the bike upright, you'll be digging vinyl out of your butt for a week.

No worries. The wife and I laid over the GK last summer....at a full stop. I stopped in a gravel parking lot and looked down to see where the kickstand was going to fall, it was going to end up in a hole in the gravel parking lot, so, I went to pull up another foot or so, the wife thought I had stopped for good and was in the process of hopping off the back. We tumbled over, I remember thinking "Huh, I've never seen my bike like that before...."

Now she doesn't get on or off without me giving her the okie-dokie head nod.

Just one of several reasons why the wife should be left at home while riding.

Nah, not my wife, she loves riding with me. She only rides the GK though, the 750L just isn't very comfortable for a passenger, which is fine with me, the 750L is much more funner to ride than the Mighty GK.

I did that this past sunday. I felt quite foolish.

Even more foolish is when yesterday I went to push the 850G off it center stand without sitting on the bike. It leaned a little bit too far away from me and started to fall. I wasn't able to reverse it's momentum and so just sort of laid it down gently. Then had to pick it up again...

No damage was done in both cases, but I sure felt silly for making both of these mistakes within 3 days.... Now I know. Again.

You didn't lay her down, you dropped it. Dropping it we all do on occasion, laying her down is for morons.
                        Well done.

I almost did that last September leaving the Tail of the Dragon gas station heading toward Robbinsville. I didn't realize why everyone was on their horns until Chris Riddle told me to check my kickstand.

We had been on and off the bikes a couple times getting ready to go, for various reasons, and I wasn't in my regular routine anymore. I probably should have started over. Normally I pull it up immediately after sitting down.

I just go about thirty feet after pulling out and do a test turn to the left. I average about 50/50.

I have had dirt bikes that had an odd rubber bit at the end of the stand.
I wonder if one of these affixed to a regular stand would gently knock things in place.
