Looking for new pics for the summer…

Hope to see more pics this year in our truth and sharing thread here.

Good pics make for a good teaching moment for the greenhorns.

Helps us veterans “keep it real” too.

As we lifted the rear of the bike up onto the pickup truck, my index finger got caught between the sprocket and chain and basically ALL of the weight of the bike squished my finger.

It was bleeding like a mother....I got so much blood on my brothers new bike and my dads pickup truck....

I was bleeding on and off for 1 week.
I'm glad yours didn't turn out as bad as mine. I still find myself missing things when I go to grab them with my left hand cause the thumb is 'short'.
Still, I was finally able to play some halo reach on the xbox the other day so I'm almost over it

Then to top it off, you gotta deal with the insurance companies...that alone is bad for your health. It seems like no matter how good your coverage is, they'll find ANY reason to
not cover it or drop you, scumbags.

I guess I have some to add...

Did this when I crashed apparently. My grandma made me go have it taken in to x-ray this afternoon... Guess what they found.

I guess I will have to be more vigilant and careful.... I was hoping not to post here ever.

Oh well, nothing a little ice and aspirin can't fix right? Oh well guess Im out from working on my bike for a bit.

Now that I have looked at the CD and the damage I guess I am going to have to go follow the dr's instructions and take it to the ER and have them wrap it up....

              I'll guess…

              It's dem bone chips, right?
Those would make it painful to play a guitar, and that's bummer for sure…

I am lucky in that I have not had any motorcycle or car crash injuries, (yet). BUT, I have had both legs on fire. (If you want to see that after pictures, let me know & I'll post them.) Cut part of the tip of my left thumb off with a utility knife; Put a 2" roofing staple in my left foot as well as nails from nail guns stuck into various parts of me (nothing bad though); broken my nose several times from bar brawls & rugby games; AC seperations on both shoulder a few times from rugby. A bout load of scars from various acts of stupidity in my life.

As close of a pix to anything recent. First "Open" knee surgery, 1974 result of being sideswiped and then hit head on by on-coming traffic car. (3 other scopes due to other injuries since). I live for the yearly Synvisc injections to walk with somewhat less pain.
(Had just started the 3-5 regimine of weekly shots. Now, wife has fallen, is hurt really badly. Will have to start them again later. Got to take care of her

In '08 I had a woman make a left directly into my path that totaled my bike and broke my right tibia pretty good out in Huntington Beach CA. I now have a rod in place down my tibia. Took some time to get back to walking right.... BUT.... Could have been a lot worse!!

Before I crashed I really did not care to acknowledge crash pics too much....seeing nasty pics and seeing you tube crash videos made me think and worry so I would casually avoid them for them most part.
Not that I thought "it will never happen to me" more like "I didnt know it can happen so fast" I spent the past 3 years becoming a better rider, but the unseen moment of an accident is always a split second away. A left turner or in my case a moment of not paying attention and taking riding for granted. I didn't come into that turn too hot, rather too "cool" in my mind. An unfamiliar road and a new to me bike I had very few miles on. I was not ready for the turn and ate the guardrail.
I got away easy with a broken arm, a few scrapes on my shin a sore tailbone for 3 weeks and a sore quadricep(theigh/upper leg) Its been over a month and when I lean into the bathroom counter to get closer to mirror and shave there is still a sharp pain in my leg that makes me lean back.
I used to only wear gear at night/early morning or if there was a chance for bad weather. Only a month before my crash I went to helmet and riding jacket full time and am now working on expanding my gear.
I still have that feeling of what it felt like when my body slammed into the guardrail and was laying in the ditch (8 feet below road grade) with the wind/cr*p) knocked out of me. My watch getting tight because my arm was broken, and barely being able to stand up cause my tailbone hit hard on something. I felt like I was flipping over and over, but dont know what really happened.
I have been riding a few times since the crash, just short local rides and feel the hesitancy in corners and a new sense of caution...and seriousness on the road. I was ignorantly blissfull when it came to motorcycle riding, then I had my scrape. I am grateful and feel lucky I did not get it worse. I know many of you have really been laid up over a crash. I hope you all are recovering well.
Like I said, just a broken arm but its still a serious concequence of what can happen. Be safe! Be smart! Thanks for sharing your experience.
I know how you all love pics! lol

I feel like an amateur compared to some of you guys! Good grief... I've got no pics - don't like to retain those memories... But lots of bones broken - just one or two at a time.

Starting age 7-8 - fractured right wrist - slipped, fell, landed on arm - at school.

Age 9 - Fractured left wrist - slipped fell, landed on arm - at school. First day at new school.

Age 12 - Broke little toe on left foot - messing around with mate, sweeping classrooms - broom slipped, dislocated and broke toe. At school.

Age 13 - Right kneecap chipped (at the back!) - on pushbike, collided with steel pole - knee first. After hours - at boarding school.

Age 14 - Broke little finger - left hand - towel fight at boarding school.

Age 19 - Lost two front teeth (with a full face helmet on), broke right wrist, tore muscles on sides of eyes, concussion for 3 weeks - flipped YZ250G frontwards, tore front off bike, stopped breathing for a while... Ambulanced out of forestry firebreaks, discharged from hospital next morning - no diagnosis of concussion - or any other injuries. 9 weeks until wrist was correctly diagnosed.

Age 20 - Compression fracture of two (T6, T7) vertebrae in back - highsided off same YZ250. No medical treatment for 6 weeks. Docs wouldn't believe me when I said my back was sore.

Age 23 - Busted nose - stuck handlebars through visor of helmet during BIG crash on my GSX1100. Monster bruises on right calf muscle, and a black eye that lasted months. Walked away. 5 stitches under eye.

                            Age 30 - Busted rib - crashed indoor go-kart.

Age 33 - Busted left wrist, and sternum, plus popped a few ribs away from the cartilage that holds them onto the sternum - skiing. Wrist plastered a day later, sternum diagnosed a week later, when I got a cold, and sneezed... First 'weekend away' date with my (now) wife...

Age 41 - Busted rib. Skiing.

Age 44 - Busted ribs. Skiing.

Age 46 - Busted rib - dropped Ducati on 'track' ride at Taupo racetrack - in wet weather. Broke indicator and cracked fairing on bike. Jammed my own elbow into my side, and took out rib.

Age 48 - Busted sternum - skiing. Just the little 'tail' bone at the base of the sternum.

Kinda getting sick of breaking ribs and associated bits... Seems to be a kind of trend developing, now I type it all out... But I'm NOT giving up skiing...

the worst crash i've had really wasn't too bad, could've been way worse. i just nicked a horse in the road which sent me off the opposite side where i sideswiped a mailbox. basically unhurt but had a cut on my neck and could see what i assume was my jugular vein/artery?

here's my brother after hitting a deer on my bike last year. i'm finally getting the bike back together and he's pretty well healed now too.

let me get this straight........you stole a horse (nicked) which then threw you at a mailbox, and your brother punched a deer which happened to be sat on your bike????????
