Being a LEO, he most likely can either himself pull the DL or have a buddy. But that is just a guess ....

great story Phil, really cool that mechiah popped on and gave us the other side.

feel your pain about the junior member bit too, i joined around 04-05 as well and left the forum late 06 when i left College in Atl for the army. Now I am back with another GS about to leave the army to go back to college in Atlanta. I was around 1200 i think. funny how we have a few of the older members finding their way back.

don't know about other states, but here in CT, you don't need a title for bikes manufactured before 1981. Even if it's from out of state, you just need a bill of sale, and present the bike to an inspector for a VIN check. I recently bought and registered a 1974 Honda CB200 with no title, just a bill of sale. I was worried because I figured the inspector would do a computer record search, but all he did was take my temporary registration, match up the VIN on it with the VIN on the bike, wrote me up a little slip, and I was on my way inside for the permanent registration. Hell, I should start up a business registering bikes here in CT so they can then be transferred out of state

Thank you very much for all your support. Fortunately after two tours in Afghanistan I am back for good now. I will make sure to pass on your support to all of my brothers still serving overseas.

                            Any luck with the title?

You have the title in hand yet? Inquiring minds want to know...

that does help but if you register more than like 5 bikes in a year, not sure the exact number, you will need to get a dealer license. That is also why many people that "flip" bikes will not register it and just have the seller sign the title with no buyer or date listed.

                                from http://ct.gov/dmv

"IN ORDER TO REGISTER A MOTORCYCLE IN CONNECTICUT, IT MUST FIRST BE INSPECTED IF ALL OF THE FOLLOWING APPLY:
The motorcycle was purchased/obtained from a person or business that is not a Connecticut licensed dealer; AND
The manufacturer of the motorcycle does not have a manufacturer’s license in Connecticut. (You may check the manufacturer’s license status in an Excel Spreadsheet or in a PDF document); AND
The motorcycle was never previously registered in Connecticut. This is to insure that the motorcycle meets minimum equipment and safety standards in this state. The Wethersfield inspection lane will handle all inspections of this type. If your motorcycle passes the inspection, there is a $10.00 administrative fee in addition to the fee for registration. If you have questions you may call 860-263-5080. At this time the hours for the Wethersfield lanes are:
                                Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m."

The list of manufacturers is pretty comprehensive, so most likely you won't need to have a motorcycle inspected. I'm still searching about the dealer requirement.
