NH-Me ride Not a Iron butt , but felt like it
Well I didn't make it to the Moose, but I did get a 1100 mile ride in this past weekend. We were suppose to leave Thursday morning , but the couple that was going with my wife and myself didn't want to start the trip in the rain , so we never got started until Thursday about 2pm, rode up through eastern side of NH through the mountains to Gorham, crossed into Me. on Rt 2 and rode to Rumford. Got a Motel for the night, had dinner ect. Fri morning got up and Paul's wife was sick so we got a late start, headed up Rt2 to rt111 down to rt 6 to RT1 south to Princton Me. Stopped and visited with my dad for a couple hours , then off down Rt1 to Bailyville for a motel room. Went and had dinner at a little place that was recommended by 3 different people called the Nook and Cranny on Rt9, Excellent Food would recommend to anyone who is up that way. Good nights sleep, Head south on Rt1 in Morning, stopped for breakfast at the Bluebird Restaurant in Machias , Me very good food have eaten there before.Continued to Acadia national park , went up Cadillac Mtn, Spent a couple hours site seeing. what a view. We then left there and went to Fort Knox, in Prospect Me. we now know what they mean by built like Fort Knox. Very interesting place. We then continued south to Canaan and got a room for the night, had another remarkable dinner at Lobster house [ can't remember the name it was next to the Moose tooth restaurant] Excellent food in any case. Sunday got up and continued south on rt 1 , the further south we got the slower we were traveling, more traffic.Around 3pm I decided we needed to cut across Me. if we wanted to get home before dark. So we cut across and came down Rt 9 from above Concord . Stopped for supper in Keene at the Long Horn Restaurant, These chain places are ok but don't compare to the Little Mom and Pop places, so overall we did 1108 miles and my old GS1000G performed flawlessly never missing a beat with about a 550 lb load on it all weekend. I had played the carb game for awhile before the trip. I was worried that I wouldn't get the fuel mileage that I had gotten with the 32 mm carbs and I got an average of 44.3 miles per gallon on the entire trip . Very happy with the results.1984 GS1100GK newest addition to the heard

Did 4 days with Charlie G from down south, a couple weeks ago, my total was 1327, Charlie's was close to 2000. I understand your pain. My butt still hurts in spots.

Didn't see many berries, most have been past season for them. When we lived up there in Maine my wife use to rake berries , seems though the season started around the first of August and ended about the third week of August. In season, some fields would look like a blue field when they have a good berry year1984 GS1100GK newest addition to the heard

I know a lot of those areas pretty well. I lived on the lake in Princeton for about 5 months while we were building a Compressor Station in Baileyville Maine. I headed down to George's Pond in Franklin most Sundays on Route 9.
There are a lot worse choices for an 1100 mile weekend than a 1000G,sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things
