    Crashed. Let the mocking commence.

Yup. After a 45 minute successful test ride, I laid her down.
My buddy, riding ahead of me, braked hard for a pedestrian who emerged froma hole in a hedge, and I hit the brake too hard and lowsided doing about 40-50kmh.

Tore a ligament in my right (good) thumb, so I'm looking at simple out-patient surgery plus 6-8 weeks in a cast. Left shoulder a bit sore, but otherwise good.

    The green skunk, however:
    Front fender.
    Headlight + bracket.
    Instruments.
Both left blinkers plus front right one.
    Left mirror (the bar-end one).
    Grip and clutch lever.
Tail (original, 78 skunk tail...) shattered.
    Tail light.
    Stator cover shot.
    Left peg.

And those are the ones I know about before further investigation.

    Pics:

Here's a Flickr set with all the (visible) damage. (click the image, and then click each image in the set to view large - or simply click "slideshow")

Closeup of the best reason I've seen in a LONG time to keep wearing full faced helmet:

    Yup.
Big dent in my dignity, of course, and sad as hell with the bike, but I'm OK.
The build thread is hereby cancelled.

Why do you assume we will mock you? Most of us have gone down on a bike.It hurts most times, you and the bike.Glad you are relatively unhurt, sorry to see the state of The Green Skunk. Both you and she will come back from this(I hope).

          Thanks, guys.
Of course - now it will get 100% attention to everything, as soon as (and probably before) I have use of my right hand again.

                    Donkey helmet…

Valentino Rossi, had a low side at the Indianapolis GP, back in 2009?
                    Nobody near him, no excuse.
So next race he shows up with donkey ears painted on his helmet.
                    Stuff happens.

I tend to ride 'harder' then most ... Just wate till a motorcycle disappears from underneath you.. Your still riding it but its gone..Just before you hit the ground you realise ."What I'm crashing"...

First time on the street, yes.
I have some ideas what I could or should have done, but before I offer them up I want to think about it some more.
