    My experience here on GSR

I'm not sure this is the proper place for this as i'm a novice here on the forum. A week or so back i was surfing the For Sale section looking for a rear cowl section / tail for my 1982 GS1100 and came accross a ''parting'' ad from JWHELAN65 that included a rear cowl like i needed. I sent him a note asking about the item and he mentioned several tabs were broken off. I returned that i was not really interested in the cowl persay, i just needed the red reflectors on each side as the paint shop somehow had misplaced mine when they removed them for painting.Without hesitation, he replied, what is my address? Anyway, today in the mail came a package with two nice red reflectors in perfect shape for my 1100! I just wanted everyone here to know the caliber of individual this gentleman is,he went out of his way at his own expense to help me with parts for my bike at no charge. I don't know about everyone, but to me in this day and age, this is a special gesture considering he does not know me from Adam. I just wanted to share this heartfelt gesture and nice experience with all here as i really appreciate it and won't soon forget it.Thanks for allowing me to be a member of a forum such as this.

i would like to add a similar experience i had with GSR.
i was in need of a float bowl for a set of VM26 carbs, so i put an add in the wanted section. a certain Mr Chuck Hahn replied and said he had a spare one i could have.
when i asked how much including postage (he is in Texas and i am in the UK) he just replied."pm me your address and happy christmas!"
a few days later it arrived at my front door.
cant say how grateful i was and it goes to show that there are some good, generous samaritans on this site who will help out anyone if needed, where ever in the world you are.
    many thanks CHUCK.

Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

Outstanding individuals here on this forum. Big part of the fun in owning these bikes is watching the sincere efforts here to keep GS's on the road.

      Welcome and thanks for sharing.

Biker Bill, if it was me, I would send J.W. at least $30.00 as those are, besides being NLA new, very hard to come by.
As for Joe Whelan's character, impeccable!

          Just sayin'

Ed sent me a cam bearing bolt once during my top end Noob saga. GSR members often toss spares into the mail to help each other out.

While on my road trip he did offer my brother and I a place to stay, and fed us, and even dropped everything he was supposed to do that day to help fix my leaky bike. Truly a great guy at heart.

I do my best to pay it forward, and if I can help another GSer I do.

Eric sent me a brand new Tachometer cable for my GS1000 when he heard mine broke. I didn't ask, he just did it. Thanks Eric!

When I found the matching side covers I'd been looking for {forever}in a suburb of Los Angeles. English Bulldog picked them up and shipped them to me. As said before, great people on this site.

I would note that some of those responding with stories of how others have helped them have been very generous with their knowledge and time as well.

                        Great board.

I doubt I'd be riding a GS or riding at all, if it wasn't for this forum. Please note, I'm in agreement with Octain......"Pay it forward!"

+100 to everything said above... I haven't had a need for posting things to and from, but have received so much invaluable advice on here from so many members it's just awesome.

I also got to meet John who it turns out shares the same postcode and he's been very generous with his time on a number of occassions and I've been able to give him a hand at times too.

                              Continuation of the theme:
Out-of-the-blue, Vmass asked me to send him some pics of the S this past week. For some reason, he needed to see both sides of the bike.

Two days later i get these in the mail...

That's GSR brotherhood. Thanks, Rich... you're a good man.
