    Riding Season over early.

Well my riding season has ended early, I fractured my heel. I was in a parking lot taking a tight turn around. I had put my foot down to steady the tight turn, when my toes caught on something in the asphalt placing my foot vertical toes down. My heel then got shoved into bottom frame of bike. And being as my foot in longer than my frame is tall, I ended up putting all the weight of the bike on my heel. So basically if you would want to see what kind of pain is accociated with a cracked heel. Stand tippie-toes then lift the back end of your bike up and slam the frame down on your heel. What also goes wounderful with this is that I also have peripheral neuropathy so the pain actually radiates through my whole foot and up my shin. I strongly advice to refraining from doing this.

    Ouch!
That hurts just to think about it.

When I was much younger, younger than today that is, I once saw this upright beer bottle in the road and crusing about 40mph, I just had to hit it with my foot, That hurt! Never did that again.

Sorry to hear. I can imagine how painful it is. What kind of footwear were you wearing? Not beating on you, but curious if a good boot would have helped. I've leaned hard into turns, been lazy with my size 12's and caught my foot/toe portion between the pavement and peg at 50+mph and other than twisted my ankle and a blow to my pride thinking next time I can't get lazy, haven't had any serious injury or mishap yet. It's happened wearing good work boots or solid reinforced toe ankle high hiking shoes that have prevented any permanent injury, jacking my ankle up or breaking toes.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Well you live in MN, so you have like what, three days left in the riding season? Always look on the bright side of life.

Sorry to hear of your woes. That sounds extremely painful.

On a brighter note, that gives you 6-8 more weeks to finish your current project and get organized for your next one

Pretty much bed ridden. I have a shim right now that goes past the knee, makes it really hard to get around. I'll get my cast next week when my swelling is down and cast should be just as high. I absolutely cannot put any weight on my foot/heel or it will guarantee that pins will be needed. Still don't know if pins/surgery are necessary till I see ortho tues. Pain isnt to bad anymore, as long as I stay immobile. And with those little white helpers they gave me

Bummer! Even the description sounds painful. Must have been unbearable. Can emphasize with you. When I broke my humerus (compound fracture), I was initially in shock, and only later felt the pain. Heal well, heal fast.

I am very sorry to hear the news.....I can relate some, I just wrecked my bike and broke my damn arm. I think your injury is certainly more serious than mine, I hope you keep your spirits up, that sounds really painful.
I hope for a strong and full recovery for you. All any of us can do is keep moving forward with life. Best wishes-

Thank You all for your best wishes. Will just have to wait and see if surgery or pins are needed. Hopefully I wont be in a cast long as I am moving in November.

Lucky the jerking of your body didnt make you loose the bike all together. Sucks that your foot and leg are suffering so much...very sensitive and much needed apendage.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Heal fast, man. Any busted bone sucks, but legs and feet - ouch. I remember when my 650 did a dance on my leg after we were hit by a bread truck in LA. I busted my ankle but didn't know it until I tried to get up. That was years ago and it still ranks as one of my top five all-time painful moments.

Yeah the pain is pretty bad at times, but when it happened it wasn't to bad. I cursed it off and walked around. It wasn't till an hour later that the excruciating pain hit. And I am not sure how I was able to keep the bike up through all of this but I did. So now I just get to sit and stare at her through the window.
