GS450, scenery, history and going out to pasture...

This thread is mostly pics with little verbal....an excuse for a ride? getting out to see the colors? a nice place to stop for lunch? ....or taking time to remember others at the NH Vet cemetery today. Some of these guys lived to be old farts after their military careers and others died in action in their prime, never getting to enjoy a ride someday on an old GS. Count your blessings and enjoy while you can!

Do your history on this 19 yr old man.

It's a great bike. I just mounted a new set of sneakers since I used some take offs for the first 1500 miles or so. Just a set of Shinko 712's but well suited for this bike. Tread design to hold on dirt and gravel, rain and sticky enough for back road twisties. Won't need a V rated tire for this bike. Went with 100/90-18 front and 110/90-18 rear. A bargain at $95 USD a set shipped. Scrubbed off some of the newness earlier today.

Good stuff Lurch, and yeah I still love my little 450. Would definitely like a Kat to go beside her but no way would I part with the 450!

I'm actually up for a new rear tyre right now and should have it fitted this week.

I'm staying with the Pirelli Scorpion MT90A/T 4.10x18... that's $120 fitted for the one tyre... you guys get 'em so cheap!

I've never found anyone here who sells Shinko's either...

Just hit submit then did a quick Google... there's an eBay seller 15 minutes from me who sells Shinko now! Mind you they're no cheaper than the Pirelli's I have... $110 for the rear 712 same size as yours, and fitting $25 each... even if I fit it myself it's only $10 cheaper... oh well... they like ripping us off over here

No, the NH Vet cemetery was established in 1997 and stones placed since then. Not someone I know and am still searching web for background, that's why I was asking.
Here is another site with 1800's era tombstones on another ride....

Actually I ride around NE for cool spots to see, then stop for bike shots if it encompasses scenery or history with something I love to do....riding.

That stinks....I can get a nice Avon Roadrider for that price and still have enough $ left for dinner at The Outback!!!

btw, are you going tubeless? I've had no problems running these rims tubeless, and less hassle mounting it yourself.

Yes, I like your pics. The dirt road up and down hill was a nice one recently.
You show interesting scenes, and interesting roads, so we can see how nice the ride is.

Yeah but we get used to it... pity we have to but there's nothing we can do about it either. I priced buying Shinko's from the US but shipping makes it more expensive... and I priced buying my Pirelli off eBay but again the shipping interstate here makes it more expensive... and again that's not fitted...

I'm running tubes but of course having always had someone fit my tyres for me means there's no dramas for me

I might try mounting one at some point but so far the most economical way to buy tyres is to take advantage of the "free" fitting... I say "free" as I know it's built into the price of the tyre... even when you don't get it fitted!
