Very nice bike! I wondered where you went to. Welcome back. It would be better to learn on something a little smaller and more forgiving. Has it been preped for long term storage?

I really not the expert on preping a bike for years of storage, but if you recently gotten it running, it's not a good idea to leave gas in the carbs and tank, as it will gum them up and they (carbs) will have to be done again. Maybe post a question in the general maintance section for the larger forum to weight in on. I'd hate to see want to ride it some day and have to have a bunch of work done when you could have taken measures to perserve it better.

For the short term at the very least, add some fuel stabilizer to the gas and run it to allow it to enter the carbs.

            Aaron,

Good to hear from you again.

How are you doing these days?
Anniversary of your dads death is coming up.

Good that you are being cautious about the bike.
That would be quite a lot of bike for you to learn on (and your mother could be going to another funeral).

Maybe in next couple weeks you can find out about any MSF classes in your area.

if that doesn't work, try this one,

Yes, for the bike sitting for long time, do at least get some Stabil for the gas. CAn get a small can at about any auto parts store. I use it for winter storage.

Aaron, we need to get together & get you some ride time on my pit bike to get you used to riding. Then we can move you up to heavier stuff after you are smooth with the clutch & brakes on a small bike. Ray.

That sounds like a good idea Ray. Nice of you to offer.

No, but the more time you spend getting the clutch & brake coordination down, the better you will be. Ray.
