    Some pictures from this weekend

This weekend was our annual trip...Central NJ to central PA.
I usually leave with some pre concieved rough plan..Left this year with none. Thru years of making this trek, i strung together enough memory of trips and roads ridden in the past to breeze up..We ended up going thru coal country, with its wondrous and sometimes depressing sights. We saw coal operations and coal piles literally touching the streets we rode. We also passed thru in the same area, towns that were clearly not thriving....and appeared to be in decline...Then what was Centralia. This eventually gave way to farm country, then the Pine Creek Valley - our destination..
Someone in a white pickup truck ahead of me paid my toll crossing into Pa, and for the first time, on 3 seperate ocassions i got some GS love...The first being our cook where we stopped for breakfast. He had never seen an 1150 in the flesh and was excited to see one. He keeps a GS110GK at his home..in Costa Rica. The third was a former skunk owner, and current Kawasaki 1100 owner. The second was the best. After lunch we were in the parking lot. An old slightly bent over man with a limp, probably around 75-80 years old, walked up and said that he was admiring my bike, and that he had the model before it - as in an 82 1100E. he just sold it, because he was unable to ride, though he still had a cb900 in the garage..He gave us advice with the quiet conviction that could only come from a man of his age and experience.."Enjoy it while you can" he told us...............

Abandoned drag line buckets, and no slave to fashion...Me

Lunch...Ashland PA. CB900 custom on left. Not in our group. Nice guy though...

    The "main drag"....Cedar run PA.

    Remnants of my former gs1100e

    Where we stayed..

I even rode a classic Ducati....250. it was an awesome little machine.

Thanks AZR. As ive said here before it photographs well. Up close...well its not as nice..I do enjoy the fairing, though it tends to be a bit rattly on rough roads, despite all mounting bolts, etc being tight. Thanks again

Thanks Sean, It was a good trip. We rode 800+ miles over the weekend, with the only glitch being a burned out Goldwing headlight bulb, a bad Harley taillight bulb, and for the second time in 2 years, a dying GS speedo drive-it was noisy and squeaky by day 3. Easy compared to years past. 2 flat tires in 2 years on the Goldwing, with the second being a 3/8 bolt piercing the rear tire. And last year both Ducatis went horizontal. The yellow one was minor, while the red one hit a deer after we split up on the last day. The GS finally topped 20k miles...embarrassingly low for 14 years of ownership

How is it that you saw remanints of your old 1100E when you were that far from home...? You went back to where you used to live? SOmehow you found where you old bike went?

Thanks Redman, I sold the 1100 to my cousin who lives there after I bought my first 1150. That poor old 1100 was beaten merciessly by its first 2 owners, then I put about 16k relatively easy miles on it to bring to about 32k miles, although its rumored that the first owner may have disconnected the speedometer..Shortly after my cousin had it, it went into full electrical chaos. After ironing that out, it had bottom end engine failure. I dont remember, if a bearing went or the rotor spun or both. Regardless it still holds a place as my first GS love. My cousin later purchased a parts bike intending to make one from 2, but the project languished...
