White tail tango.
Riding with my son, nephew, and brother-in-law this morning, 3rd in line, 55 mph. White tail came out of the ditch and launched itself over the rear of my bike.....almost. Got my elbow, shoulder, and now I feel my hip got hit as well. It hit the rear luggage top case mostly, bent the mounting some. He did a somersault in the air and crashed in the roadway, got up and left. I only saw a brown flash, kept the thing upright. It's about as close as it gets without serious injury, I'd say. BIL said it was impressive. It's more adventure than I was looking for on a perfect Sunday for riding. I'm sore, but that is all. I need a sign for my bike that says Deer Slayer. 65 years old and my 1st (and last) motorcycle deer.Tags: None

Yes they hurt even when the bike stays upright!
It could have been much worse.
I live in a rural area and the critters go hand and hand with low traffic roads.
Though even in the towns now and then we have antlered hazards.

Ugh....glad you're relatively ok and kept the cycle upright..I hit one years ago. Saw the deer on the roadside, braked and slowed down to perhaps 30-35 before the deer jumped in front of me. I tried steering around to no avail. I hit it went over the bars and slid...It was a beautiful summer night and I had on a t shirt and jeans, so I got scraped up on my elbows and one knee, but not so much to prevent me from being pi$$ed. That and a spectacular case of road rash my brother recieved due to his own stupidity caused me to begin wearing gear...sigpic
When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

Just because you have hit one, don't think it's going to be your last, unless you park the bike.
I hit TWO deer with that van. Almost identical damage, 13 months apart.

Lucky to have walked away. A friend's '67 Mustang fastback was totalled on the thruway between Rochester and Buffalo. One deer and that beautiful old car was toast.
