    Riding Deals Gap this summer

I had a good time riding in the area around my home in Eastern Tennessee this summer. I got up on the hill at Deals Gap quite a few times, often with my son. His GS1000 was down due to an ignition problem so he was stuck with his Triumph 675R. One feature of the Dragon, aka US129, at Deal's Gap is the roadside photographers. Here are some shots:

    My old GS1000S:

My son following on his Triumph:

    Ian on his 675R:

One week I even made the highlights:

Riding the Gap on an old friend like the "S"? Pretty special. Doing it with your son?

    Priceless!

Great pic's. Thanks for sharing. The 675 Triumph is all of a motorcycle that anyone truly needs and does everything well. (Some of us still want more though. LOL.)
Does he blow past you often with his much higher powered bike?

You're certainly right that the Triumph 675 Daytona is a great bike and the "R" model with the better Ohlins suspenders is pretty much king of it's displacement class. It can really punch above its weight. That motor develops fangs above 8000 RPM! I very much enjoyed riding it, even if it left me feeling more than a bit folded, spindled, and mutilated from the pretty tight riding position.

Yes, if he puts his mind to it the old GS doesn't stand a chance, in any performance category. Ian and his bike together weigh just about what the GS1000 does. The fact that he only weighs about 140 makes him and the Trumpet pretty stiff competition to anything else on two wheels.

Neat kid...neat bike. I'm a lucky dad. He lets me ride with him.
