GS 750 going down in flames
Bout ten years ago, I received a 79 GS 750E as a gift, My friend was going into the military and gave me his bike. It was my daily driver for years. It only kick started because those 3 starter bolts broke or stripped, but it was really dependable and fun to ride. Lights always bright and always ran like a top. I was booking down the I-17 in Phoenix and suddenly it got real hot. I looked down and the bike was on fire. I got off the freeway and got the flames out. I was able to carefully ride it home. I guess one of the exhaust pipes came loose from the engine and the engine burst into flames. No real damage but I stopped ridding that bike. Bad Bike!

Well, I moved on to a 2005 Boulevard C50T, Nice but I like a lighter bike. Now I ride the 1986 GS 550L with the old school windjammer from my 750 and a Harley seat. I am working on adding a seat air ride for greater comfort on those long rides. I also changed the front sprocket to 18 teeth. Cruises real nice but I noticed I had to drop a gear on the climb to Flagstaff. No biggie.Last edited by Guest; 10-17-2015, 11:13 PM.

Tight valves and an oil leak perhaps? Or maybe it's just a hot bike.sigpic
When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"
