A week from Saturday, I'm going on a ride to remember my brother in law who passed a few years back. He had been working on building a chopper but never saw it completed. His brothers completed the bike and they take it out every year in his memory. Just a couple of hours of riding followed by a BBQ at one of their houses. NJ members here are more then welcome to join... PM for details. I know Glen had expressed some interest this year...

Is that first pic Prallsville Mills? I got married there, ha. I've def hit Hot Dog Johnny's on the way up to the Poconos - can't pass up a chance to say Buttzville.
I think we need to get an NJ ride going. I made the Asbury Park trip over the weekend and I think went through your area, more or less. I forgot how pleasant rt. 33/35 is compared to Rt. 1. Putting that Sandy Hook loop on my list, too.
A NJ GSR ride would be cool.
My plans keep bouncing around, but as of these 10 minutes, I'm planning to join Mario on the 30th.
I assume your bike is up and running?sigpic

I would welcome a NJ GSR ride up to the northern part of the state, n back. I know some great roads by Fredon, Newton area. Spectacular lake perimeter runs and large swooping roads near farm areas that I think would be really enjoyable. Who's into it?PB

FYI, the ride route actually takes us out to Easton, PA area... and down back through that Hopewell area.

DB it's nice to see you were up my way.... too bad I missed you, and the opportunity to share baked goods! NJ has some lovely locations indeed, when you go off the beaten trail. I just wanted to add a couple pictures of the viaduct that I took a few years ago. It is an impressive structure, pictures don't do it justice. Walking under it and feeling like an ant does.
The cars at the bottom of the shot give some idea of scale
Seen from the bottom
And the top
Part of the crawl way system spanning the arches
There is access to the internal structure of the arches, but it's -really- dark and cavernous in there. You can climb all across the tops of the arches though.
Lots of crazy graffiti all throughout the structure
I live about a half hour away from the viaduct. It's almost literally in my cousin's back yard and she never knew it was there. I just showed it to her the other day, it bowled her over.
Hot Dog Johnnies is a favorite spot in a very nice area to ride. I bring my son there at least once a year for a ride and a dog.
Glad you enjoyed our neck of the woods!"Men will never be free until Mark learns to do The Twist."

Hey Allie, its good to hear from you. Hope all is well. Yes, that viaduct is impressive. I never realized that the viaduct thst the nearby main road goes under is the same one. I briefly considered climbing up to the access to the arches, but riding boots arent good for hiking.
Another item of note... many years ago in nearby Blairstown I had my GS impounded for lack of
insurance / registration papers. The bar I waited in to be picked up by my friends is closed....sigpic

Allie, thanks for the kind words about my pics. Someday maybe I'll actually get a digital SLR. While the cell phone is incredibly convenient, I find it limiting.
My run in with the PD was in the mid 90s. For my part, I should have had my paperwork, but I think imounding the bike was a bit much.... the officer played the I ride too and I'm your buddy game at first until I couldn't produce my documents. All these years later I still remember his name. The last name very much sounded like a farm animal (not a pig).sigpic
