Grass Clippings in the Road -- Have you ever?

Have you ever had trouble with grass clippings in the road? Like wipe-out because of loss of traction?
I've seen the meme recently. I have never had a problem.

Not grass clippings. But on my bicycle I've had some interesting " slides " in the fall from leaves.......

Never wiped out, but if the owner is out, actively mowing, I'll honk my horn, point to the clippings and shake my fist.

Been temporarily blinded by an A-hole with a leaf blower that was scattering all the clippings and dust into the street as I was riding by. Yes, my visor was down on a full face helmet too.

I will steer around them and be sure to announce the patch to Charmayne for her to do the same. I know it's supposedly against the law and it's definitely a hazard but it seems that nobody anywhere really gives a care

It's against the law to put anything in the road right of way. Grass and snow mainly. Every year the local governments post a reminder somewhere. It's promptly ignored.

Leaves from about now until mid January. Sugar beet was a biggy, not so much since the last sugar factory closed. Barley can be trouble in August and September. Prices must be good for livestock, hardly ever see them roaming free.
To answer directly, none of these hazards ever caused my any traction loss. I just freak whenever I see them and plastic bags - hate them and what I imagine one could do

Wet leaves are brutal. I’ve never gone down from them, but they are slick. The closest I came to dumping from a slick road was outside a car wash....

On the general "murder attempt" scale of the crap I deal with on any given ride, it doesn't rank all that high.

It's EVERYWHERE, and damn near everyday around here. I'll have people out mowing still give me the apologetic "look", but it doesn't stop them from doing it. It is indeed illegal, and I am confident most people don't know that's a law... It is something that should be pushed on harder...

I have never had any problem with grass clippings. Wet leaves, yes. And I recently proved once again that loose gravel is the worst of all. Still healing up from that one.

Never had a problem with grass clippings. In fact, I do not recall ever seeing sufficient amount thrown onto the roads to be of concern.

Leaves, however, are everywhere at this time of year, and they can be treacherous.



I don't consider them in the same danger league as loose gravel or sand, however, as leaves can usually be seen, while bits of gravel and sand can be almost invisible. .It is not a problem through summer, but anywhere from late fall to mid-spring one must be cautious whenever the presence of sand is suspected, as it is often mixed with salt and applied to many, many, roads from first snowfall until at least the end of March.

A coming hazard: For at least a couple of days after Hallowe'en, those thin (mylar?) bags used for potato chips and other snacks are another hazard, as trick-or-treat kids toss them everywhere
