I agree with 235 being straight, but it IS a pretty ride and before you get to the lake there is a small section of Amish country.

If you all ever feel like heading South East, let me know. There are some really pretty, gravel free roads in south, central Ohio.
Actually the pic of that Voyager 1200 was taken in the lot of the Cassanos. We ate dinner there.
I may take you up on the offer soon. I've been itching to find and ride 555 and some other roads. My last trip toward that direction with the intention of hitting twists was cut short by a buddy and another guy having simultaneous get offs near Lancaster. Happened right in front of me. There was lots of gravel though and it was late fall so it had rained a bunch.
I'll shoot ya a PM or we can chat about it in West Va

The Canada Goose was one of the many species described by Carl Linnaeus in his 18th-century work Systema Naturae.[2] It belongs to the Branta genus of geese, which contains species with largely black plumage, distinguishing them from the grey species of the Anser genus. The specific epithet canadensis is a New Latin word meaning "from Canada". According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first citation for the 'Canada Goose' dates back to 1772.

Not sure I'll ride 555 again. Just had a weekend away to W.V. Came home 555 in the rain. Granted, that is unfair, but the experience was scary to say the least. If you all head this way though, I'll try and ride along where ever.

I've never been on 555... That being said, I looked at it on the map, and I have to say, TCK will be doing that trip 1up.

Soooooo they ARE from Canada or just originally thought to be? I dunno or remember who told me bout them NOT being actual Canadian geese... Maybe the species around here aren't? ( the grey ones with the black heads..) but I took it as gospel. Shows what ya can learn. Heh. At any rate, whether they're canadaian or not, (and if I were Canadian I wouldn't claim em) they're annoying, messy and there are way too many of em. Why they're still protected I have no idea. Just this year alone, the population at our apartment complex has quadrupled or more. Not theyll all stay there I'm sure, but each mom/dad combo has had at least four, and many have had 6 or 8.
One thing I find interesting, is that they mate for life, whereas the ducks we have around our place (mostly mallards and cross breeds from what I can tell and have looked up on the interwebs) don't mate for life. Actually they more often engage in gang rapings of females, and then seldom to you see a male hang with his offspring. Usually the mother is left to defend them by herself.

555? I'd like to volunteer for that expedition. I've been wanting to hit that road for quite a while now.

Looks like you had a nice trip. I rode by Grand Lake which is not too far west of there last summer on my creative way home from Port Clinton. Couldn't stick around much as I had to get home that day. I think Indian Lake used to have an amusement park next to it and was quite the hot spot in the 50s. My Dad talks about going there for the weekend when he was in his late teens/early 20s.

Man, I want to hit 555 someday too. It's so hard to get out and do much riding with 1 year old twin girls. I am toying with the idea of taking a day day off work later this summer when my kids are being watched by my mother in law, and doing a dawn to dusk ride out that way.

They ARE however, protected, still, federally. I guess at one point they were on the verge of extinction but frankly now, they're a nuisance in many places and around here, highly overpopulated. And, man, when they poop...WOW!
Its the same up here to a degree. If they are nesting on a barge I am picking up technically it can't be moved until the geese have hatched. Of course sometimes the forces of nature { nature being a deckhands foot } can solve the problem. { So I've heard ! } By the way they are delicious.

nice stuff josh. a guy from the dnr here in mich told me what he claimed was the best way to get the geese to stop invading a beach. HE told me you have to beat one to death with a baseball bat, in front of their friends, as a warning. said they will never come back. i have never had the.....whatever it takes......to try this, but he swore this was the way to do it.

He loved the bike, especially riding with his new wife, and after a few years of owning a Ninja 650R. Not anywhere to go when you have a 40' long vehicle cut you off! The front end was run over by the dual rear wheels of the bus as you can tell in the pic, but his backpack he was wearing managed to slow/stop his slide within a foot of getting crushed himself. Bike was a total with less than 800 miles on it and he had a bloodied ankle and wrenched back but survived to tell the story. Full load of kids on the bus had a story to tell at school that day. The school district's insurance paid for everything and the bus driver was cited and probably lost his job for his stupidity! He was wearing hi-vis vest (still driver "never saw him!") as required on military bases and full upper gear. Unfortunately not the pants or boots that day as he was in dress uniform.

I'm betting this would turn into an annual Ohio riders event. There are tons of great roads around 555. Especially the closer you get to the River.
