    High Point Monument.

Over the summer when Mr. Steve came down from NY we went past the monument, and I felt bad for begging off going in (tight expenses). My co-pilot and I paid an off-season visit recently, so I thought I'd post a couple pics to hopefully satisfy his curiosity.

You can go up into the obelisk during the season (I've never been inside).

Sun and temp are getting low, time to head back!

A little bit of the view from the highest place in NJ.

You didn't say expenses were tight.

    I would have paid.

Great place, I love high point. The two lane hill roads going up are a great ride and the short trip to hawks next make a great route.

We buzzed The Hawk's Nest, but it had only one lane open and construction lights metering traffic at each end. Major renovations going on, well into autumn.

I'm sorry Steve, am I in trouble? You were generous as it was.

No more trouble than normal, I reckon.

I'll be back there some day to add that picture to my collection.

          A closer view:

There are others, but I don't have them loaded in to Photobucket yet.

Yep Florida is not going to give anyone a nose bleed, that's for sure. I forget how high High Point is, 1400 feet or something like that? Not enough for high altitude muffins I bet.

Any elevation is high enough for muffins. Even Death Valley.

Not quite. The official elevation of Leesburg is 95 feet, according to Wikipedia.

Many people think that Lake Wales is the highest, because of the botanical garden that is built on "the highest point in the area". (It is one of the highest points in peninsular Florida.) The elevation is 295, but the highest point is 350 miles northwest of there.
