Apache trail is cool but gravel. Maybe save that one for the car. Oak creek canyon / Sedona is a must. South mountain - careful for gawkers crossing the center line. Jerome is fun if you get adventurous.82 1100 EZ (red)

April is a great month to visit the Valley of The Sun, temps can get up to the 90's but it is very dry and not uncomfortable at all, especially if your moving at all. I can ride my bicycle 20 miles in
the middle of the summer and as long as I Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate everything is good.
A great route would be to leave the Phoenix area and head out east on the 60 to Globe an on to Safford, past Safford take a left on the 191 to Alpine. You are up in the mountains and one of the most beautiful areas in the state. Alpine has some great places to stay, Greer is a good spot also. Then back through Show Low and in to Phoenix. That would give you about 600 mi..
This state is very diverse and has lots of opportunities. I also would not miss the Grand Canyon if you haven't already seen it. It always takes my breath away. There is a train from Williams and is loads of fun.
Cheers

Come on up 17, jump off on 69, and - after about 30 miles - hang a left on Whiskey Row, Prescott. That Hardly Ableson should fit right in in front of the Bird House Saloon. Then, once you've slaked your thirst, get back on and head out of town on 89, up Mingus Mountain toward Jerome. This is the nicest, curviest road in the state, and Jerome is a really cool old mining town-turned-tourist-trap. Once you've slaked your thirst again (I recommend The Spirit Room), keep heading north to Sedona. You'll be glad you did!

We made it to Cave Creek and had more than a few beverages at the Buffalo chip. Great atmosphere and good wings. Today we pick up the bike and are heading to Tombstone.
