My cousin and his wife arrive here in Victoria this coming Saturday. On Monday we leave for this trip for Banff Alberta. This will be a very special trip as my cousin Danny is responsible for getting me hooked on motorcycles when I was a kid. he is ten years older than me and when he was 15 he got an old Honda 90 to ride around in the feild by his house, he would put me on the tank. Then he moved up to street bikes and I still remeber riding on the tank of his Honda 750four while holding onto the middle of the bars with a helmet that was clearly too big for me. When he was still a teenager my Dad co-signed a bank loan for Danny to buy a new Honda 750. The only stipulation was that come the time I wanted to buy a new motorcycle and needed a loan, Danny would have to co-sign for me too. Which he did when I was 17 buying a new (what else) 83 Gs 750e. Any way my cousin still rides a 1977 kz 1000 he bought new along with a bought new 84 500 ascot and a 2008 Concourse. We are taking the wives with us on my 1100 and my 750. We will cover 2352kms (1600 miles) of some of the most beautilful roads in North America over 7 days. Staying in nice hotels and even a Hot Springs.
What makes this so special is that I have not rode with my cousin in almost 30 years and have not even seen him in ten years. Oh and this will be the first time he has ever been on a plane! Yikes! I look forward to sharing with you guys pics and stories to come.
    Thanks,
    Trevor

Freakin' awesome is what that says!! just make sure you highlight all the GS riders on your route, lol. The long range weather forecast is looking great I think.

Sounds like a great trip. You'll definitely enjoy that route. I do have a suggestion that won't add any mileage but maybe take a little extra time, maybe an hour at most. That is when you get to Creston take 3A north to Crawford Bay, across the free ferry and then over to Nelson. Much nicer drive than going over Kootenay Pass and besides by the time you get to Creston you'll have gone over a few nicer passes on your route on Hwy 1 and through the parks. Have a great trip, if time warrants give me a call when you go through town.

Lol...yes Sandy had a great trip and will be posting some pics soon. You live in a great part of BC Sandy that's for sure! Makes me very happy that you will be hosting the Rally next year. I might even be able to talk my cousin into coming out for it. Plus I'm sure we will be able to get some of the BCclassic boys to come too.
                    Stay tuned for pics.

Good on ya! Tomorrow I'm off for 2 1/2 weeks, the first 10 days I'll have no cell phone, no computer, no TV, no car, no motorcycle in a secret place with only water access. Looking forward to the pics when I get back. The house sitter has a key to the GS so it won't be lonely.

Well, if something fishy doesn't happen I at least deserve a good paddling.

Pics from our incredible trip across the beautiful province of BC! As I have said here my cousin who got me into motorcycles by putting me on his bike some 40 years ago came out here with his wife for this trip. I hadn't seen him in ten years. We rode two up with our wives and loaded with luggage on a 30 and 33 year old GSs 2366kms! All the Banff AB, just to turn around.
Old friends for where we frew up in Woodstock Ont who now live out here joined along the way to ride at times with us.
This is a friend of ours Bucko, who my cousin was close with as youngsters and had not seen him in 25 years! Cool...

It was hot hot...35 (over 100) degrees! So I looked for a nice cold creek to stop at so we could cool off. That's my cousin enjoying a beverage...

We arrived at our hotel in Nelson BC and had a well deserved meal with a beautiful view!

We rode each for about an hour before stopping for breakfast, a good idea I got from Glenn..This was in Salmo BC

The temp on the deck of our condo in Radium Hot Springs BC

So we made a quick trip to the store..

                            View from our deck...

Thanks to my wife this trip was 1st class all the way..

My happt wife on our hotel deck in Banff AB

                              Cool bridge in Banff

                              Lake Louise

Next stop was Revelstoke BC where buddy Henry met up with us on his cool Z900. My cousin had not seen him in over 30 years. They bought brabd new 1977 KZ1000 together. My cousin still has his..

Then Henry took us to Gary's house, another woodstock buddy that I had not seen in 20 years...I used to buy rear tires off his RD that he raced for my 550 Katana when I was 16...

Gary always had an awesome garage..
