    Any members familiar with Caracas???

Anybody know anything about motorcycle rentals, great roads or interesting places to ride?

Or just join me for a cervesa?

I have no information about Caracas, but cerveza caught my attention. Sorry to waste your time but it works to bump you to the top of "New posts".

        Wow, what a strange place.
Cops with AKs everywhere, traffic stops, really nice classy hotel with no towels, hangers, water or internet. It's like pulling teeth to get hooked up.…
2Am and sirens are running constantly out my window… I guess it is Friday night.

Caracas and Bogota are now the two most dangerous places for tourists in the western hemisphere. The have passed Mexico City and Kingstown for that honor.

Unless one has to go there on business, I would suggest one stay away from both Venezuela and Columbia (Mexico too, for that matter).

Too late to avoid the place, and yeah I wouldn't want to walk around at night too much.

No stay in at night, One'v the guys had his phone nicked by a traffic cop in broad daylight. There are some decent hotels on the sea front with a fairly decent restaurant across the road and they're handy for the airport too. Sorry I forget the names. The steak is the best there, (Apart from Argentina)
Bogota there are armed guards each side of the good hotels, one shotgun I recognised was a Franchi spas 12. I will be back there later this year. I also found that Colombia looked to be a lot better off than Venezuela.

Did you see that fuel at the pump in Venezuela costs only $1 to buy 100 litres?

Don't say can't, as anything is possible with time and effort, but, if you don't have time things get tougher and require more effort.

Yes, we figured out it was about 2 cents per litre, depending on if you use the official exchange rate of 6 to 1 or the real exchange rate, about 50 to 1. Six pack of the local beer was 50 cents, food was super cheap. Didn't spend much at all there as they don't sell beer or alcohol on Sunday, left early Monday morning...

Columbia, yes overall I felt much safer in Cartagena, although you would want to watch your surroundings in either one..
