Caracas, Venezuela!?? NOT a safe place to party BY ANY MEANS, unless you're with a local you trust!!

Caracas and Bogota are now the two most dangerous places for tourists in the western hemisphere. The have passed Mexico City and Kingstown for that honor.
Unless one has to go there on business, I would suggest one stay away from both Venezuela and Columbia (Mexico too, for that matter).GS450E GS650E GS700ES GS1000E GS1000G GS1100G GS1100E

Bogota there are armed guards each side of the good hotels, one shotgun I recognised was a Franchi spas 12. I will be back there later this year. I also found that Colombia looked to be a lot better off than Venezuela.
Did you see that fuel at the pump in Venezuela costs only $1 to buy 100 litres?sigpic
Don't say can't, as anything is possible with time and effort, but, if you don't have time things get tougher and require more effort.

Yes, we figured out it was about 2 cents per litre, depending on if you use the official exchange rate of 6 to 1 or the real exchange rate, about 50 to 1. Six pack of the local beer was 50 cents, food was super cheap. Didn't spend much at all there as they don't sell beer or alcohol on Sunday, left early Monday morning...
Columbia, yes overall I felt much safer in Cartagena, although you would want to watch your surroundings in either one..
