In the extra terrestrial highway in nv now. We saw a sign that said 150 miles till next gas so had to double back 5 miles to fill up. We stopped in Rachel at the Aleinn as it was getting dark and ended up camping out in the parking lot after the owner told us it would probably e dangerous to ride in the open cattle fields at image.jpg ight. We're about 15 miles from Area 51 and heard 2 really loud booms as we were waking up- no aliens though. 110 miles until next gas fingers crossed.

When I have space to bring one, I always feel better with a spare jerry can travelling some of the more desolate areas...especially when travelling solo.

how is your body holding up?

Sounds like a great trip so far. You pass through Zion huh, my son's heading up there in a couple of days.

That highway sign is real blurry, btw.

Have a safe and fun trip!

We're out of Zion and jut arrived at our friends in Oakland. We had to take the interstate to get here and realized that from ashville to the Grand Canyon we only we're on TWO interstates for no more than 100 miles and how little fun they are. We'll be in the Bay Area until Monday or Tuesday and then are making our way up to Portland via the pacific highway where we ordered two rear tires to replace ours which are pretty flat. Three weeks is definitely the shortest amount of time between tire changes for either of us.

Yesterday we went through and camped in Yosemite. The views and scenery were amazing and the roads were curvy and so much fun. The camping was expensive and the campgrounds weren't great but oh well. We took 120 west out of the park which was the most curvy road i have ever ridden on it was prett crazy and fun even with 25mph speed limits which really couldn't be pushed much. OH and coming in to Yosemite on 120 we passed a sign that said DIPS next 5 miles - I had never seen that before and needless to say the next 5 miles were very fun🤗

Word to the wise. I was out west with my dad years ago. There was a dip sign in the road with lots of warnings. The road literally and quickly dropped about 3 feet for a dry creek bed then quickly went back to its previous height. Our rental car would have been in the air if I didn't slow down.

Years ago I vowed to revist Zionsville after a drive thru it.

You're coming north on the PCH?
You need to take an extra day and take the roads between Eureka and Redding
Far superior riding compared to the PCH.
You can'tt be riding past bucket list type roads. OR and Norcal are full of them

In OR the sign to watch out for is "sunken Grade". That means a big chunk of road is sliding down the hillside, but hasn't slid away as yet

Good advice. Take 299 east at Arcata. If you want my kind of fun, take 96 north at Willow creek off 299 and follow the Trinity and Klamath river up to Oregon, and find Big Foot. Fill up in Willow creek!

Came up 1 and then 101 to Portland. It was really cold the whole way up and super cloudy but the roads were pretty wind-y. It warmed up a lot once we got to Portland and were sitting in traffic and my bike stumbles and dies. I was able to get it going again enough to pull over for a bit to cool down. Made it to where we were staying and it happened again the next day under similar circumstances (hot out, in traffic). It seems to be fuel starved and when I turned the Petcock on prime and wiggled the fuel line could see gas going down/bubbles coming up as if I was priming it after sitting a couple days. It rides fine otherwise one were actually moving.

Also so changed out two rear tires and my oil at this gas station which was a new experience haha

Pretty cool. Tire change at gas station. Bet you had a few onlookers. In post #12 you said new tires were installed. Did they wear out already?

Yep we've done about 5500 miles with extra weight on the back with all our gear and the three week old tires were bald haha.
