    Hum.... not really in route.....
Back in 2005, we attended a Kawasaki Voyager rally in Durango, Colorado. Our plan was to go north on the Million Dollar Highway to Montrose, turn right on US50 and take it all the way to Cincinnati, then turn north for the last few miles home.

Plans changed a bit. Long story short, both bikes ended up in a U-Haul truck just west of Dodge City, Kansas. Not the way we planned to end the trip, but the van's air conditioner worked VERY WELL, and it was a 100+° summer.

Friends and I are planning a ride to new mexico in mid may, two of them are doing most of the planning and have told me about a overnighter in campground near Moyer OK.

Maybe close enough to say hello, before I head out.

That's a decent part of the state. A bit NE of Moyers is a little town called Clayton, a few miles south of that on Hwy 271 is Clayton State Park. I've stayed there a few times on big dual sport events, it's really nice. Small lake there, cabins you can rent, I recommend it.
There's also a bunch of nice camping spots around Beaver's Bend Lake, further east towards the AR border.
And of course you can always stay here, I should be in town in mid-May.

Where in NM are you going? I lived in Albuquerque for many years.

I've been to beaver lake, thought that whole area was awesome. As for the new Mexico ride, all I know right now it's in north part of New Mexico .

My first time in Ok City, I was living in Wichita, and rode my new RD400 down to the Fair to see the half mile races. 1978 or so. Bartells Harley Davidson had some Cadillacs converted to pickup trucks. Fun time.

Just was out, recently! We came back through the Arkansas Ozarks...

My parents were from Kingfisher and Pryor.

(My one uncle built an underground house, outside of Pryor, so them twisters wouldn't get him.)
