      IT consultant .
Yes really!!! a self employed one and that has
been killed off in uk by the covid issue.
      In my field anyway.

Used to do remote technology infrastructure.
It's hard to believe.... that at this time of
all times I cant get back to it.

was considering getting a boat and rowing in
the other direction to the migrants to france
of Mexico and climbing the wall!!!

p.s another Herman Melville quote :

        Moby dick ---- Hermann Melville
As for me, I am tormented with an everlasting itch
for things remote. I love to sail forbidden seas,
        and land on barbarous coasts.

Moby Dick is a favorite of mine, and that excerpt also channels the character of Homer's Odysseus well indeed.

I rode my '82 KZ1000J all over Greece in the mid 80's, along with my friend on his '82 GS1100E. We drew a crowd every taverna we visited. I should have known - it got stolen. Bike theft was so rampant that you couldn't get insurance coverage. I was led astray one night by a fair lady and let my guard down. Maybe she was in on the deal....

I took it out to Myknos (what was I thinking!) and scrambled around as best I could. I think a bike that size had never seen that place. I rode up to Delphi a couple of times, and around the Peloponnese. The marble in the roads make for slick riding in the winter rain. Traffic in Athens is a challenge, you have to be on your toes.

Now that is an impressive ride !!! and onto
the mainland. I am yet to get to Delphi but of course must one
day. That only possible if I ride from UK as
bike hire is a trip finisher due to cost.

I so agree on the roads, some being like glass.
Going over the mountains on steep hills I quickly
learned to use very carefully the brakes mainly rear one
                going down them hills.....

Also the fine gravely roads can be like ice too.

Yeah that's a distinct possibility, I've heard that story more than once from both perspectives.
