Trying to ID model # of fuel tank

I’m looking for a fuel cap, and it’s frustratingly difficult to find one that fit’s the 35mm tank opening. My tank came from a scrapyard so I don’t know the model, I think it came from a Suzuki but now I’m not even sure about that. I know it’s a long shot but if anyone can help ID this tank from the picture it would be appreciated.

    It's possible it's from a 1982 Suzuki GS 550M

    Still available new.

Check with your local Suzuki Shop.

Thanks for the info. I have been to a Suzuki shop but they can’t help me without a model #. It’s hard to tell from the picture in the link but I own a 83 GS550 ES and the tank opening is bigger than what I’m looking for and the Suzuki parthouse doesn’t give a description.
Nobody on e-bays is able or willing to measure it for me to tell if it will fit in a 35mm opening, and there’s no scrapyard near here where I can go and pick one out. That’s why it’s so frustrating. The picture shows it has 2 tabs on either side for mounting plastic instead of only one on each side like most GS tanks, and I thought that clue may be a way to narrow it down.

I didn't realize how hard it would be to find a match for that tank, you are right trying to find even a picture of the tank with the 2 tabs on each side is no easy thing..

I looked at images for about an hour including Youtube videos and didn't find anything.

        Good luck.

        David

I did find this, has 2 tabs each side but not sure if it's the right one.

I have a couple 83 550 es bikes, will take measurement of fuel tank opening…might even have a spare somewhere.
