- Hi everyone
I was hoping I could get some help with some technical questions I have a 82 Suzuki gs750e that has been sitting for a very long time the bike belonged to my dad who passed while I was in Middle School it has been sitting in a corner of the garage since then I'm Now 37 and it never occurred to me to try to fix it up it was like he just set everything down one day and it stayed there he had the gas tank off and a very large syringe attached to the gas line so I'm assuming he was doing carbs at some point not sure put gas in it and it fired up I got excited and tried riding it but struggled to get it to stay in first it kept slipping out when I did get it in I could only get it to Second it wouldn't go any further I did some digging online and seen that it could be a bent or worn shift fork, damaged or mis-machined shift drum, or a damaged shift pawl among other things but what I didn't find is a whole lot of ways to fix this stuff as in repair or adjust mainly replacing parts is there a way to fix or adjust any of these if they are an issue obviously not the shift Forks if they're bent it is what it is I was also looking for some sort of manual for the transmission but couldn't find anything I'm just trying to be as prepared as I can for when I start taking stuff apart I haven't done anything yet if someone could point me in the right direction it would certainly be helpful thanks in advance
