Parts Interchangabilty
Parts interchangability. Sorry if I have asked this question before, but does an exhaust systems off of a 81 GS850 standard fit on a 78 GS1000? Also, do carb assy's from a 93 GSX1100G fit air cooled 4v 1100"s? I know GSXR750 carbs bolt up to a 4V 1100. The GSX1100G has flat slide carbs, once again, I can get the whole bike really cheap.Current Rides: 82 GS1100E, 00 Triumph 955 Speed Triple:twistedevil:, 03 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 01 Honda GL1800, '15 Kawasaki 1000 Versys
Past Rides: 72 Honda SL-125, Kawasaki KE-175, 77 GS750 with total yosh stage 1 kit, 79 GS1000s, 80 GS1000S, 82 GS750e,82 GS1000S, 84 VF500f, 86 FZR600, 95 Triumph Sprint 900,96 Triumph Sprint, 97 Triumph Sprint, 01 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 07 Triumph Tiger 1050, 01 Yam YFZ250F
Work in progress: 78 GS1000, unknown year GS1100ES

So, given the difference in years I'm talking about, that narrows the question down to:
(1) What's the diff between the 78 and 79 GS1000? Nothing, from what I can see on Partzilla.
(2) What's the diff from the 79 and 81 GS850G? Nothing again. But double-check the Partzilla #'s.
Man, I was waiting for this question to come up haha

This is great info. I have a bone stock 78 GS1000, very good shape, but the exhaust head pipes are so rusty the pipes cant even be re-chromed(I dont believe). Want to restore it, but keep it stock. I've modded every bike I've ever owned. Now the auction the bike I was looking the bike is and gone. 850's seem to pop up for sale usually pretty cheap. If I'm patient I find one. Thanks guys!Current Rides: 82 GS1100E, 00 Triumph 955 Speed Triple:twistedevil:, 03 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 01 Honda GL1800, '15 Kawasaki 1000 Versys
