    Google Search on GSR

Did a google on a motorcycle question the other day and lots of GSR hits came to the top. Did Frank open up the forum for search engine indexing? I'm not very smart about this topic but remember reading previously that the admin must allow access for such indexing of topics. At any rate, it's nice to see this because google is awesome for searching.

Instead of using the search feature here you can search using google by typing "site:www.thegsresources.com" "search term"

    Hope this helps someone

Now that you mention Iit, I searched GS1100 images and some of "ours" came up.

Yes, I noticed GSR links in recent google searches as well and Google is far better than the obtuse search engine in vBulletin :0

Google will be the end of us all.

If you do a blank search in Google using simply site:http://www.thegsresources.com/

        you get very little information.

Im pretty sure what is in the actual forums cannot be accessed by google due to the need of a log\pass

OSme of the things showing up on google may be in the general pages outside the forum.

Huh? Why? If someone enters a Suzuki GS search query, the best place they could land is this forum. (The second best is BassCliff's site.) The web is something I do for a living and I can't think of a single drawback.

I noticed that Google was indexing it after the forum upgrade some time back. I assumed Frank opened it up on purpose but never brought it up in case he hadn't.

I second what Eil mentioned, google started indexing after the forum upgrade. Google site search has been working since and works very well.

hmmm well the results are weird its like they just got a small window of time to index the site. Looks more like someone left the door open for s short period of time.
SO not wide open after all.

I also have googled and come up with lots of hits showing GSResources.

                  its a good thing!

I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.

So glad this has been opened up. I remember posting about this a year or two ago, asking if it could be opened up. I'm not sure why this would be a bad thing.

The best thing is being able to do a google image search using "site:thegsresources.com"

Looks closed again. Why? Does that enhance security?

                        There's no way it can.

There are lots of variables involved that influence whether and on which position the GSR forum shows up on google's search results that are shown to you. Search results are localized, personalized and what-have-you.

Few factors can be influenced by site operators. Only marginally more so by the google user.
