    81 gs250 shifter stuck

    I'm a newbie. Just picked up a low mileage 81gs250. It looks like a previous owner switched the clutch cover oil plug with the shift detent pin bolt and drove the detent pin in to where the shift drum doesn't even wiggle and I can't get the bolt out.
    I'm trying (again) to JB weld a bolt to the top of the Lin to see if I can draw it out.
    Thoughts ?
    Also, I may be resigned to pulling the motor and splitting the case.
    My question on this is can I turn the motor over and split the lower case without removing the upper (cylinder head)?
    The factory repair manual details removing the cylinder head before splitting the lower case but the motor runs great and I don't want to take it all apart.
