How do I embed a video?

I see numerous embedded videos on the site but I can't figure out how to do it. I just end up with the embed code in text on the post. Searched for embed but get a lot about embedding photos but haven't found how to embed a video. Googled it and watched a couple youtube videos about how to embed a video on a forum post but they reference an HTML button. I only find an HTML "wrap" button. Doesn't help.

So upload your video to YouTube and then select and copy the Share link. Then in your post here, click on the icon that looks like a movie strip and paste the link there

If it's from youtube, I hit share, then copy link.
Open the reply on here and hit the icon that looks like film. That will open a box. Paste the link to box.
The youtube link will have a dot in the middle like this - youtu.be

I have a Vimeo account. I guess I'll just have to start using YouTube instead.

Click on the thing that looks like a paper airplane. Then highlight the " link " in blue. Hit control-C to copy it. Then go back to your post and click on the film strip. Hit control-V to paste it then go to advanced to see if it worked and then post it.......

If you mouse over the second icon from the right in your last picture there, you'll get the words "insert video" to show up. In my reply here it's the third from the right and looks like an old movie reel

An old thread but it is an old problem i am having with trying to embed a Youtube video.
Obviously just doing a copy and paste of a high-lighted headline is not going to do it.
When i reply to a thread i see nowhere in the body where there is a "film reel" or "film strip" or "paper airplane".

Could someone go over this again for a computer numbskull.

I haven't tried this...but I know how to copy and paste here...it's just a matter of using the film reel icon and then paste the link in the box provided.

Right click on the Youtube video you want to post. One of the options will be " Copy Video URL " . Left click on that which will copy it. Go back to your post and left click the little video strip in the top selections. Hit control and V to paste it. Done......

                            This is embarrassing.
A right click on the Youtube video, a left click on the copy url code, a return to reply to thread and there are no film reels, video strips or paper airplanes in sight.

At the bottom of the bottom of the GSResources reply to thread page there are "Posting Permissions"
                            BB code is on

                            [video] code is on
                            HTML code is off

Could the HTML code have anything to do with this?
